I could fix all of the minor issues with this knife. I don’t plan to; I’ll sharpen it and use it. Guys, this knife is an opportunity to try the steel. We already knew this steel was gonna have lower abrasion resistance than many of the recent sprints, so scratches shouldn’t be a surprise.
Ahhh, see I didn't realize that. Like you said, It was definitely purchased with the plan of using it and trying a new steel. I just didn't expect a bunch of little scratches after 2 days of not very hard use. I agree...a great, low cost platform for a new steel.

How would you fix them? I have one coming. I'm mostly excited about the steel, but I want to carry the knife as much as possible as well.

What specific issues are you referring to that would keep you from carrying the knife?

I want to lower the tip a bit. In looking at some of the photos, I could grind down the choil a bit or maybe take some material off the spring (both?). I've carried knives where I've cut my finger on a barely covered point. It didn't happen often, but it was really annoying when it did. If I don't feel comfortable carrying a knife, then it never gets carried. I'm really interested in AEB-L, so I want to carry the Urban often.

Lowering the tip is simple and doesn't require disassembly.
You can use a diamond file, a sharpening stone, or even a small piece of sandpaper to remove a very small amount of metal from the "kick", or "choil nub" as ChrisinHove referred to it in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84143

This is what I did to mine within an hour of receiving it. Been carrying and using it ever since 6-10-19.
Concentrate only on the part that makes contact and check in the closed position often. I spent less than 5 minutes on mine.

Didn't realize it would take so little time. Thanks for the tip. I get mine on Thursday. I'll lower the blade over the weekend.

Well, I've done quite a few over the years, mostly traditionals like case and schrades, but it's the same thing.
After a while, you get a feel for how much to remove.
Just remember, don't do too much at a time before checking, you can't put it back.

Remove a frog hair at a time. Recheck often. You can't put material back on.

I may have spoken too soon about not fixing anything. The point is barely shielded so I probably will trim the kick. That’s the only functional thing that needs attention; the rest is a matter of fit & finish aesthetics.

I’ve been carrying and using this little beast since Sunday. Went swimming in a pool with the kids with it clipped to a pocket. No worse for the chlorine :p It’s going to need a reprofile here shortly.

I'd like to see this knife next to a Lil Native, for blade stock thickness and overall size...if anybody happens to have both?

Rick, among the other Urban threads, it looks like no one has responded to you, so here are some comparison pics for you with the LN Comp lock version:

The way the lighting is in that pic, gives the scales a light grey/white hue...I like it!

Not quite ! First and foremost Urban's blade is way thinner behind the edge and THAT is very important...at least for me

How does this knife/steel rate for EDC compared to say, the Chaparral LW, or Native 5 LW other than being a bit shorter in blade length?

The cutting edge is longer on the Urban than the Chaparral. These are my top two favorite pocket knives. As for the steel, if you want toughness, ease of sharpening, and no chipping, Abe-l is for you. If you want longer edge retention and better stainless, the xhp of the chaparral is your choice.
