I hate Fedex
I have two Spyderco Impalas that I have been waiting for. I emailed the seller, and he gave me a Fedex tracking number. It indicated that the package was delivered on the 17th! Aaaaghh, that's news to me. I get visions of my knives being abused by some deviant, being sharpened with a file!
Fedex in it's wisdom leaves the package in the store downstairs from my building. The guy there gives it to another guy on the block who has a similar name. He tells me to come back tomorrow and he'll get it back for me. Whew!
Fedex never even does me the courtesy of a sticky note stating that my package is at the store downstairs.

no for me fedex is great. Ups is not the worst but they are bad. the usp guy doenst even ring my bell he just leaves the package with my super. This was a few years ago. We complained so much that he finaly got fired. Good for him. We have a newer guy who still does this and we also complain. I guess walking up 5 flights of stairs is to much for them. well its there job.

I would rather deal with FedEX. UPS breaks more stuff for me :)
UPS is sloooooow, I've had MANY things sent to the wrong city( :eek: ), and EVERY package is anywhere from bent to completely vaporized :mad:
Those in the know use Spyderco.

Well Fedex has always been good to my packages but I have seen them to be a little bit slower and rude. UPS on the other hand tends to be a little quicker and has better customer service, but breaks about everything they touch. USPS has been the best over all, beside their tracking system is horrible.
I have an awesome story about UPS and a 21 inch monitor that was 80 pounds, but I don't feel like typing. :) Regardless, it ended up in pieces, and I mean pieces.

UPS has messed me up so many times, that I won't deal with them anymore. One day, I was standing in my kitchen, facing the picture window- big dang window- and I make eye contact with the UPS guy who has my stuff. I start walking to the door, and he's already put a "Tried to deliver" tag on the door! He SAW me!

actually, I am very sorry to hear this, I work for the UPS in my country, sales unit. We have to handle several complains like yours, every day.
I dont have anything to write you as an explanation of your problems with delivery, just sorry.
(hopefully you will not ingore myself as a member of :spyder: forums, you know I also have to earn somewhere my :spyder: money)

in fact, we are in Slovakia just a subcontractor, also "not real" UPS, real brownies take us like a little step-brother, but we have also some talented employees that are able to delivery some goods to neighbours, and so on...
Generally the "driver" job is a "hard bread" as we use to say by us, you got to spent in average 10 hours a day by picking up and delivering parcels, but on the other hand also to handle a lot of "specific/problematic" customers. So on one hand, I fully accept that the customer wants 100% quality service for his (not less) money, but on the other hand, as an "insider" everybody who complains should spent one day watching the drivers route and all the tasks, maybe then will accept more this "faults".
It is a really hard job, but we allways just expect the driver with "american two inch smile" and a 100% parcel.
It is the same as I was before working in a huge mall (like Wallmart, shopping center..) you had to play every day 12 hours the donkey for the customers, but now when I go there for a coffee I am not gonna be angry if the service is not 100% everyday, because I was a part of that people for some time and had the possibility to know the things and conditions in which that staff is working everyday, and they are not the best. Since then I can accept it, I also complain when something wents wrong, but try to be kind on the staff, because we all are just people and make faults.
On the other hand, when I expect my spydies shipped by homeground UPS (in Slovakia) I take my cell phone and get in touch with every employee who once touches the parcel, untill it reaches myself, but I know not everybody can do it. :D Since today all were shipped in 100% condition, no loss or damage.
In conclusion, let me wish all of you the most secure shipping your :spyder: knives, wherever it should be.

Fed Ex & UPS are hurry up and deliver outfits. At least the UPS guys on my route ring the bell and tuck it inside the door. I always use USPS to ship. They are a bit more careful with stuff and remember, it's still a federal crime to willfully and wantfully destroy mail so that might be the incentive. The fact that it's cheap also sways my vote towards them.

Well, all's well that ends well. I just got trampled by a herd...umm well a couple of Impala. Great knives, the thing I love about Spydies is that each one has it's distinctive personality.
