Re: What Are You Reading ?
A shameless plug, Michael!!
I’m currently reading Paul Theroux’s Deep South. I’ve read many of his excellent travelogues, but this delves deep into the psyche of the Southern USA.
I’d certainly be interested in knowing what anyone actually from there thinks about it.

Re: What Are You Reading ?
I thought that I would write something on this subject, so as to help and inspire people to read FREE and nearly FREE books whenever possible.
I read and collect books having to do with prepping, survivalism(military stories, adventure stories, world wars, EMPs, hurricanes), hand to hand combatives, violent people and how to defeat them, medical books, knife use and knife targeting, warfare(conventional, guerrilla, asymmetric, war novels), physics, leaders of the past and present(Einstein, Hitler, Mao, Che, Patton, Trump, ...), societies and what makes them tick(capitalism, socialism, marxism, nationalism, ...)...
I buy a lot of Kindle books(110+ books), and when I feel like researching a subject I start with Google and Wikipedia, and then move over to Gutenberg Press for 100% FREE books and download as many on a particular subject or author as I can. I have studied 175+ topics and have a multitude of books in each folder.
http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
NOW, of course, I have not read every book that I own from cover to cover and I read at least 10 to 20 books at once. I get too bored reading one book. I usually start reading a book, and I may read it for a day or more then find another subject and keep right on going.
This is my FREE books collection (from A to N, the rest are out of sight).
https://imgur.com/7Meo62K
EDIT!
NOTE: The way that Gutenberg Press works is if it has fallen out of copyright, they publish as long as someone produces the file. There are different Gutenberg Press servers around the world. Some have different laws as to what is FREE, so you really need to go around the globe when you are researching a topic as you may find what you are looking for in the EU, Australia, ...

Anybody interested in reading about "SHTF" survival should read "The Dark Secrets Of SHTF Survival" by Selco Begovic, a survivor of the Balkan war. 'Nuff said.

The Gutenberg Press usually has several formats for each title. It is not guaranteed but there are formats for text, HTML, PDF, audio, and sometimes e-reader!!!
I have over 1,500 text files. For the books that I find interesting, I may go back and look for the audio and HTML files because they have pictures/illustrations. It really is a fantastic site.

Re: What Are You Reading ?
I was at the library with my stepdaughter on Thursday to get her a book to read for our camping trip this weekend in case we encountered some bad weather, to help keep her occupied.
I came across a book I remembered I enjoyed as mandatory reading back in high school. Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" I'm going to start reading it tonight once we're all settled down. Will interesting to see how I see it now as an adult instead of a 15 year old kid. Can't wait!

"History As You Heard It" by Lowell Thomas (PDF scan of the BOTM edition here: https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Ar ... s-1957.pdf)
Just finished the 1941 chapter, so WW2 is going strong.
"Say Nothing - A True Story Of Murder And Memory In Northern Ireland" by Patrick Radden Keefe (https://www.amazon.com/Say-Nothing-Murd ... 0385521316)
Was looking for a book about "The Troubles" that wasn't a standard history, and this looked interesting. I've only barely started it though.

Aristotle, way back in my foggy memory. But, le Carré, I’ve read the Smiley “trilogy” about three times:JonLeBlanc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 4:07 pmAristotle: Nicomachean Ethics
