I also just purchased two, less cost than the recent SG2 Delica/Endura release.

Delica has been a favorite EDC carry since the mid 1990's.
Also EDC a PM2 and Endura daily, three knives? Yes,,, need more pockets.

Can anyone comment on shipping speed? I am moving soon, so I don't want to risk it if they are slow shippers.

I was about to checkout with two knives and one SpyderCoin. Adding the coin changed the shipping from $15 to $27.

At most retailers I'd be trying to add something like a SpyderCoin so I could cross that FREE shipping barrier.

Anyone plan on HRC testing theirs? Any guesses??

Over on BF some members were speculating that this is going to be "too low" on the HT because M390 has to be 60+ to make any sense. I have no idea how accurate that is, but it has me intrigued. First M390 knife out of Seki, so curious as to where this lands??

I don't have any experience with Spyderco's m390 heat treat, but I CAN tell you that the difference between M390 at 57 - 58 hrc compared to M390 at 60 - 61 hrc is night and day. If I was going to go with a lower hardness for toughness... I'd go with a different, more suitable steel personally.

I'm hoping this ends up somewhere between 59 and 61 hrc.

I'd be interested to see it but I'm not at all worried about it.

For me in a Military and PM2, Spyderco's M390 compared to their other steel has been better than S30V or XHP in edge retention while also being easier to sharpen than ZDP189 or S90V and completely stainless... If these Delicas fall into that bracket as well I'll be good.

Also, our local HRC database has 3 M390 datapoints from 59.6 to 61. No idea where that 58 number is coming from since they don't source it at all. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83847

Edit - and just look at where ZDP189 is run - Seki clearly doesn't have a problem running stuff on the hard side if the steel warrants it.

Previous confirmed tests of Spyderco's M390 hrc.

Military - 61hrc
Mule - 60.5hrc
Para 3 - 59.6hrc

And here's a quote from Sal talking about their M390 heat treat.

We make the M390 and 204P as hard as we can make it.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about the heat treat on Spyderco's M390.

If this came out a few months ago I would have been all over it. But, since I bought a Para 3 LW, I really don’t see myself buying another Delica. The Para 3 LW is better in every way (other than blade thickness) for me. Can’t wait for those exclusives to start dropping.

Looks like a very nice knife. I don't know about anyone else but to me, getting a premium steel like M390 warrants a bit of cost increase over the VG-10 model. Especially when you consider the past difficulties in getting the Japanese factories to work with foreign steels.

I like the dark blue; I much prefer it over the bright blue of their G-10 exclusives.

I think the dark blue is what might get it into my pocket. I missed out on the Kahr Delica in that color, and I didn't really want to have to buy BBS' Lil Matriarch and do a blade swap. Plus, it sounds like M390 is pretty easy to deal with. That checks a bunch of boxes for me.

I have a a BBS Military. Never dug the blue G10. After 6 months I swapped the blade into my fluted Ti and sold the S30V with the blue scales. The buyer was very enthusiastic about the blue.

I liked the Kahr colors but not the shorter (legal to most) blade length so never ended up with one. Glad to see this dark blue color. Would have bought it if it was VG-10; that it is M390 makes it much more interesting. Ordered two. Only other Spyderco I've owned in multiple quantity is the delica 4 black frn vg10 ffg. It is the one I use the most.

Yes. Think this would be an interesting documentary. Getting to hear the conversations and getting to see the on-goings between Spyderco, dealers, material suppliers and off shore manufacturers; and tracking a project from conception thru public delivery & acceptance...

48 hours later and these are still in stock. Delica certainly doesn't generate the fever the PM2 does.

Anyone care to guess the sell-out period on these? My GUESS is 30-45 days. [Don't know for certain so don't hold me to the fire but thinking the BHQ Teal vg10 lasted a month and a half??? the st nicks g10 a few months with a price drop from initial offering??? and the fradon carbon fiber still around after a few months??? and the KnifeCenter Pakkawood around after many months??? The Hap40 Burnt orange sprint seemed to go quickly??? Feel free to correct me on these!]

M390 paired with FRN has more than a hint of lipstick on a pig, to me. Then again, I've always hated FRN. No interest in this thing, whatsoever.
