Forum knife for 2019?

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

Is there going to be a forum knife for 2019?

I hope so and I hope it is something I like, such as a Lil Native back lock with Elmax or ever LC200N. A UKPK with LC200N, Elmax, M390, etc. would be sweet, too. That would be a good choice so that our friends in the UK can own one.

There have a number of famous knife makers who have passed away in the last year or so. Some of them had a relationship with Spyderco. I wouldn't be opposed to re-releasing one of these collaborations as the forum knife.

Forum Knife 2019

I vote for a Hundred Pacer in LC200N, BD1N, or Cruwear with different colored scales perhaps a Denim Blue and a Spyderco Logo in the Handle like they did with the Military Forum Knife years ago.

I think the Chaparral lw would make for a good platform for a forum knife. For me a knife everone should own (say I, beeing NOT into small folders generally) - and if only just for experiencing the phenomenal lock and how slicey and still solid thin stock (2mm) can be.

Than, not unimportant for a forum knife, it should be legal in many places

And, for those out there with really big hands it is probably the "better DFly"...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Kapara in LC200N maybe? It just seems like such a natural combination.

Looks like the 2018 Forum Knife is still available. I was able to add one to my cart.

I hate to be a killjoy but they don't usually do forum knives two years in a row. I wouldn't count on one for 2019

I would assume we would need to do separate polls for model, then steel, then color. That said, I am also on board with a Chap LW! A Chap LW Salt with a neon FRN handle and DLC blade would be awesome!

It looks like Forum Knives have been on a 3 to 4 year pace between releases lately. The PM2 from 2018 is by far my favorite Forum knife. The S90V PM2 with a polished web and Spyderco logo inlay is simply awesome! I did not know these were still available. Get one while you still can, you won't be disappointed.

What a great proposal!!!

And I want to repeat: Wouldn't it be nice to have a forum knife that could be carried legally in most places due to it's small size?
(I know, even better would be a slipjoint in that regard.. Still, very selfishly, please no...

I agree. I think a Chap LW would be my choice too.

Can't really disagree here. Though really I'm not sure what exactly they would change to make it a forum knife. Scale color? I wouldn't change it but that's just me.

But the real crowd pleaser would be a Caribbean forum knife. That's an opportunity for different handle scales begging to happen.

I wonder does it really need to be a forum knife? Why not a run of different color scales for popular model(s)?

My personal forum knife wish list:
* Howard Viele 2 polished G10 scales
* Chaparral with wood or Micarta scales
* (Actually #1 on my Spyderco in general list) Military with M65 uniform cloth Micarta, that would be the Millie to rule them all :)
* Vesuvius with (if possible) revised/improved comp. lock
I will most likely buy the next one regardless, but i'd love if it isn't one of the done to death and beyond Para***

Another vote for a LC200N Chaparral Salt (but please keep it classy... no flashy colors)

But still a (for Spyderco) rare color? Maybe a really dark, classy, non-flashy red? (On the regular "Chap-textured" FRN handle?)
