I decided to take a look at some steel under an old jeweler's microscope. These knives are all close to new with factory edges.

Those are some interesting images. Curious, I just grabbed a printer's glass off my desk and put my iphone up to it. Surprisingly (to me), I got a pretty good shot of the knife that was in my pocket. When polishing an edge, I use stronger magnifiers to watch the work progress. I can't wait to see if I can get a picture with that setup. Thanks!
