Hello all,
What do you think of Mr. Perrin’s little knife called the
“mini pic” ???
I think in WWII they called this type of knife a tire slasher?
Could it be a decent little necker for normal type stuff?
Thanks

Not sure about the mini pic, but the Perrin Sypdie I had, I really liked.
Re: Fred Perrin knives
He and Michael Janich did a knife together called the Fusion One that I really need in my life.

Perrin is a great designer and has practical real-world knife-use knowledge.

Re: Fred Perrin knives
Fred is one of my favorite people. He is a true old-school craftsman with deep historical knowledge of knives and martial arts technique (including a lot of "lost" knowledge of French Savate and other street fighting systems). At the same time, because he understands the functional aspects of why different knife designs perform well in various roles, he creates some amazingly functional, but unorthodox designs.
The Mini Pic is definitely reminiscent of the SOE/OSS "tire slasher" knives from WWII, but has a straighter, longer blade and a "tail" that stabilizes the knife in the hand much better than the WWII-era blades. While specialized and not a "quick-draw" weapon, it cuts with authority.
Stay safe,
Mike

Interesting topic.
I was intrigued to see that the SOE tyre slasher knives are very different than I had expected - an utterly non-tactical looking jackknife.
