Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
There is nothing more important than this one day.
Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
Just saw this on IG! It doesn't look like there's much that we didn't already know about but it's nice to know some of this will be available soon. The Z-cut kitchen knives look interesting.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

The Carter Gyuto is extremely compelling. I plan to get one this year. Well done, Spyderco.

The Shaman sprint's steel and scale choice was a bit of a surprise..
Nice though!

My reaction also. I thought the buzz was that a micarta-scaled Cruwear version was imminent. But, hey, no complaints here.Larry_Mott wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 11:39 amThe Shaman sprint's steel and scale choice was a bit of a surprise..

Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
Lots of exciting new models (Sage LW, Dflys, Chief, Police LW, Endela!) and steels (AEB-L!), but none in any particular combo I have to have immediately (well, maybe the Sage LW). Will be impatiently waiting for sprints and exclusives of these. Was also hoping to see the Cruwear/Micarta Shaman. At this point, if the Micarta is causing the holdup, I say just release a sprint with DLC Cruwear and Gray Peel Ply G10 to hold us over. Then do a stonewash Cruwear Micarta Shaman later on when the Micarta is figured out.
Overall very exciting new models though! Awesome to see so much innovation happen so rapidly! :D I just wish there was an "exclusive reveal" that showed all of the dealer exclusives coming over the next 4 months! :) That is where most of my money will likely be going.

Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
MAN!!! The Chief is really an amazing design and could probably challenge the Endura for me:
Just think about it: Practically SAME closed length (so length in the pocket), but still more blade, even a bit more edge despite having a very comfortable looking choil.. don´t know how they did that, for the Endura blade to handle ratio is already very good.
Not a lot heavier and presumably comparable slim in the pocket as the Endura... thought the Endela would be the first of the new designs I´d have to try, but now.. it´s the Chief, definitely!!

Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

... And some more toughts, after I did state my excitement for the chief:
- I personally would prefer the Sage lw over the Para 3 lw, no doubt. Though I wish it had a backlock.
- The Endela really has the exact same dimensions as the Stretch 2 FRN, so maybe a bit short when it comes to actual edge for me.
- Now we have more realistic weights: The weights given in the "Amsterdam-thread" were sometimes unbelievably low (don´t get me wrong, generally I totally loved the Amsterdam-thread and am very grateful for the work Mr Blonde did!!)
- DFly wharncliff: Very cool, but I hope and wait for an orange one...

Buy Urban AEB-L, sell my Urban N690Co, later on buy a Squeak to refill the N690Co spot. :) +1 steel

Honestly, I´m a bit disappointed. I think Micarta would fit such a sturdy workhorse knife much better than "fancy" CF. But, hey, I grant everyone who likes this Sprint the CF Shaman, I myself am happy when one day I´ll get the "regular" G10 one. And S30V is a perfect steel for me too anyway.wrdwrght wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 11:56 amMy reaction also. I thought the buzz was that a micarta-scaled Cruwear version was imminent. Pre-ordered a native chief already.
Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
If I recall correctly, Sal mentioned the Carbon Fiber/S90V Shaman was the sprint version Eric wanted to make. I'd be willing to bet that we will still see the Micarta/CruWear Shaman eventually. :spyder:Wartstein wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 1:26 pmHonestly, I´m a bit disappointed. Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!
I am all over the Carter Bunka!
Also super excited for the Chief.
Also looking forward to the first Endela Sprint or at least one in ZDP.
The price on the Shaman is about where I though it would be which is why I didn't like the idea in the first place. Not too sure yet if I will pick one up or not. I REALLY hope we see that Cruwear Shaman.
