Spyderco's Upcoming New Folder? Stretch Lc200N with FRN Navy Blue Scales?

#1

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

Who would be up for this?

A Spyderco Stretch with LC200N steel blade, Full Flat Grind, in both plain and serrated edges, with Navy Blue tone FRN scales, and the new Fish-Scale Pattern Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon Scales, and the Back Lock as it has now.

Would you all be up for this?

Hmm.. maybe. I have a Rescue 3 (similar in handle shape to the Stretch I believe), and while I haven't used it much, the ergonomics seem a tad cramped for my XL hand.

On the other hand I still need to try out LC200N, and I really like the Navy blue FRN idea.

Sure, if it's $100 or less, I'd probably buy it.

I'd like to see the LC200N done as "salt" models, with the standard salt yellow color.

I think someone said that Eric mentioned the LC200N Seki Salts will be neon green so they are easy to see underwater. I like this idea lot. Especially if we can get some black blades/hardware paired with neon green like in the USN exclusives from a few years back!

I am indeed down for a PE LC200N Stretch Salt though. An H1 SE Stretch Salt would be another one I would buy in a heartbeat!

I'd be in for one of these, or the Calypso or Caly 3.5 or Police in LC. Whichever happens first. :spyder:

All of this sounds great but I would love to see the Back Lock get what ever fairy dust makes the Native 5 and/or the Chaparral locks so crisp.

They’re not redoing the molds just to give you a new scale texture.

I like the thought of Hi-Vis green for the LC200N Seki Salts. I'm not sure Eric and the crew will do dark blue for anything besides the FRN or FRCP S110V Golden models. Your idea for the Stretch is interesting though.

Midnight blue is the color choice for the upcoming k390 police 4 frn

I think it's safe to assume that scale color will be for other models with k390

I'd be into a salty Stretch, if the production challenges were overcome... But I am much more interested in a Native Chief Salt!!!

I've been discussing this with Vivi and others... Maybe premature, but would be rad!

Of course both would be great.

I just want to bump this thread.

I've been toting around a SB Stretch and it is a real sweet piece! I would love to see an LC200N Salt version.

I'm going to try and find a good deal on a Stretch 2 to check it out and compare. But, I can't imagine how there could be any improvement over the original, it is fantastic.

Wish I had tried it sooner.

I am always very interested in thoughts about Streich 1 vs Stretch 2!

Both great designs, but I prefer the "1".
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I'm interested in this. I intend to buy a Stretch 2 for use as a backup knife while hunting. Blood is exceptionally corrosive, so LC200N's extra corrosion resistance would be beneficial. And I love navy blue.

Sal has mentioned in the past that the Stretch is not a top seller, so it seems unlikely that Spyderco would make a major investment in new molds and lock design.

Why would new molds and lock designs be needed? They already exist.

Unless, I'm dreaming... Is this the matrix? :p :D

The original post said "Fish-Scale Pattern". That would need a new mold.

Honestly Spyderco has done so many great models with so many different steels that I am grateful regardless.
