How would you say it compares functionally?
First, let me acknowledge and praise your choice of Avatar! I played EQ so much (60-80hrs a week for years) that I eventually went to work for SOE and even flew out to interview with Brad Mcquaid when he started Sigil Games (which later became the studio he is running now in making Pantheon).
Second, Ripp's clips don't really compare to the Spyderco wire clip (which I love as well). I don't mean they are better, just different. The clip itself sits lower to the knife so it doesn't bump into as much stuff, and it also doesn't snag on fabrics. The Spyderco wire clips always snag on one of the couches we own, these never have. The only drawback I have found to Ripp's clip is that a knife won't ride as low in the pocket as with the Spyderco wire clip. On the Ikuchi the difference is barely noticeable because of the excellent clip placement (no lanyard hole, yay!!!).
I own four of the clips and have never had a problem attaching or using them on any of the Spyderco models I own with wire clips. The only downside is their cost, but if you have a knife you love, you'll appreciate the additional investment.
