Sorry Doc. One of these days I'll learn how to post pics, but I wouldn't post this due to Sales dept. timing.

Could someone remind me, is this the slightly larger blade version that was being discussed?

Afaik, Spyderco has decided to keep the Urban as-is and not introduce the 2.5" Metro/Cosmo-politan (using the Spy-DK handle molds) or increase the Urban's blade length.

Yes, thankfully, it is remaining 2.6" in blade length.

OK it's coming back to me, there was an idea to produce something with a 2.75" blade to go between Urban and UKPK, and a further suggestion to downsize the Urban to 2.5".

I love that AEB-L will finally become a reality after years of asking!

Now a few more years of asking for another R...

I never imagined that the humble little Urban would become a gateway to interesting steels.

When the Coyote model comes out, I’ll have one in Elmax, K390, and AEB-L.

Did I say humble? Strike that!

Almost exactly a year ago, I first suggested we ask Sal to do an Urban in coyote scales:

"Postby UrbanMoose » Tue May 22, 2018 6:54 pm

It would go straight to the top of my Christmas list.... Who's with me?

I see the Urban and UKPK as present and future Euro carry classics comparable to how the the Delica, Endura and Para 2 are in the US; and having seen the handsome coyote/earth brown FRN used on the Endura and Delica, I think it's time we petitioned (begged) Sal to give the Urban and UKPK the dusky treatment. Personally I love earthy colours and feel the brown scales look characterful and friendly as well as rugged and practical."

Well, as a result of our communal persuasion and Sal's renowned generosity of spirit:

It's almost here!
https://catalog.spyderco.com/RevealTwo/?page=8
https://www.lamnia.com/en/p/45137/knive ... ife-coyote

And what a joy to behold it is.

As has been better explained by others; the AEB-L blade steel is apparently very similar to Sandvick 13C26. I'm looking forward to trying it out as I've had positive experience using Sandvick 12C27. That fact that the steel's not extraordinarily exotic makes this knife a much more affordable and usable package for my money. In fact, at this price point I'm going to grab at least a couple just for me.

The Urban is exactly suited to an Englishman (such as I) or anyone else that wants an excellent edc knife that won't scare the horses.
Despite being a townie I am frequently wandering through woods, across moors and along coastlines (ah, the beauty of Devon) and dress accordingly, so the usual black scaled Urban always looked a little too hard and businesslike to me. Having seen it, the warmth of the coyote brown is as perfect as I'd imagined.

Feels like I asked Santa for a coyote Urban for Christmas, and Sal decided to go ahead and make it, then send it to me early :D :D :D
Roll on July...

What can I say except thank you Santa Sal :D :D :D :o :o :o    ;) ;) ;) :) :) :)
