Of all your Spyderco knives, which gives the best, smoothest cut?
When it comes to Spyderco knives (fixed or folder, both are welcome) that you have personally used to cut various materials, which has the smoothest cut with the least hangup and resistance on materials? You can mention both plain edge, combo edge, and and/or full serrated edge.
For me I would have to say it would be the Pacific Salt, serrated edge, and, the Spyderco Endura, with plain edge. The Byrd Cara Cara 2 is pretty good but the cut, at least when I used it, does not have as smooth a cut as those other two, but, it is still an excellent knife. Others may have found otherwise with it.
Or perhaps all of them have the same level of smooth cutting ability for you?

Probably the ZDP-189 Dragonfly, that might have something to do with the low angle I put on the edge bevel. Not sure exactly what it is but probably somewhere around 10-13 dps.

Probably my Nilakka, at least up until the point where spine thickness causes wedging.

My reground Centofante 3. But the edge is so thin it's only for light use.

Probably my Calypso Jr Super Blue, which I reprofiled to 10 dps.

Ronin 2.
The main reason is I can get BD1 sharper than any other steel I've sharpened by a bit, qnd the blade shape makes it brainless to do so.
The hollow grind gets pretty thin behind the bevel, and I dropped the edge angle by about half of what it came with from the factory.
On materials that don't bind on the saber grind heavily, it's effortless.
In my experience it comes down to which knife I've sharpened the best more than anything. Geometry certainly plays a role in how well the knife passes through thick materials, but sharpness determines how effortlessly it bites into stuff and initiates material separation.

I personally feel like fine grained steel, steel you can take to high polish really easily, like Superblue, LC200N, XHP also leave the cleanest line. The act of slicing is smoother with a carbide steel though. The Autonomy 2 is really something else, for practical purposes its by far the best Spyderco ever made. I feel so strongly about this Id even be open to see if anyone who can come up with a better practical knife would like to have a friendly debate over it, winner can be voted on by the first 3 people in this thread to say anything after said debate is over XD. The blade on the Auto 2 is unprecedentedly slicy for some reason, which was very surprising since my old LC200n SpydieChef (RIP) was nothing special for slicing I thought.

I was going to mention, this (12 dps) was my top slicer >2.5 in along with the Autonomy 2. Under 2.5 inch you can reprofile anything thin like a Chap or Dfly and they will be amazing. I do have a question for those who have spent more time with blades such as these though.. When I freehand strop them, especially the Dfly which I think has a more pronounced FFG, it seems I am barely lifting the spine up when doing the strokes. I find it hard to hold that tiny angle without any flux.... does it just take more practice? And does anyone just lay their Dfly with <12dps completely flat on the strop and just press hard? Using mostly balsa if that matters.

Same here. My Delica Pakkawood is an absolute laser. Never reprofiled, just glides through anything.

That's easy!! My M390 Military is tops in that regard. When I get that M390 blade super sharp and finish it with a Spyderco Ultra-Fine 302 Benchstone I don't even have to use a sawing motion. It just slices into even smooth plastic like a laser beam. Second to that one is my old TEMPERANCE 1 model with the full flat grind. I'm not sure if it's the blade grind or if that particular batch of VG-10 just really got done right. But I can usually get that TeMP 1 so sharp that it effortlessly goes through just about any food item.
Oh I will also add my ZDP-189 Caly Jr model to that list as well. It's always been one of the best cutters I've ever used.
