I am a licensed economist and I organize production in a printing workshop. This means I take the order(s), calculate the quantities of materials and stuff involved, make the schedule for the people and take care they understand and follow my instructions. I also work as a system administrator, for the small network we have there. Somehow surprisingly, it seems like I also am decently skilfull at other computer related stuff as well, so for quite some time I do most of their graphic designs too (DTP and web). I am quite overburden with my work and sometimes I hardly find time for my family or the Forum. :(

Good thread!
I am schooled as an electrical engineer but have slid over to the dark side of marketing/bizdev for many years. I work in technology companies, sometimes with/for venture capitalists, usually involving products that have a lot of intellectual property and complexity. I travel frequently to Asia, mostly to buy Jurphaas new magazines from Japan. :p

Used to be an airframe fitter until Fokker got broke. Now I work as a mechanic all over the country and often abroad. Married and we have two daughters. We also foster dogs, mainly pups, till a new home has been found. Our own pack consists of four dogs. Two of them are Saarloos Wolfdogs, a breed of Dutch origin. Offcourse these are not wolves but they aren't dogs either. They have a very special caracter, making it fascinating to have them live among you. The grey ony is an almost fullgrown male called Cle and the red lady is Vani, a ***** in her first year. Btw, if I do find the time I like to make knifes.

Hi all! I currently work for a construction labor agency, providing day labor to contractors and such. I've been here three years, and it was only supposed to be an in-between job.

Normally, I'm either selling or using Macs. I had been an Apple salesman for three years before my current job, and a graphic designer for most of the past 15 years. I graduated HS in 1990.

Most of my spare time is split between my church, my wife, my friends, and photography (though, I must admit, I haven't done much of the latter lately). My quest into the original languages and translations of the bible have actually consumed a lot of my previous photography time. :D

Ahoy mateys!

I'm Peter and I'm a commercial fisherman in new england. I've been into knives since I got my first one, a victorinox tinker, on my tenth birthday. In the last 17 years, I've had a lot of them, and spyderco's been my favorite for most of that time. there's something about them.

I've worked on boats since I was 13 or so, been around them for much much longer. I started on, and still do work occasionally on deep sea party/charter boats, and whale watching boats in the summers, and have worked in the commercial fishing industry in MA and FL through college. I currently fish for lobsters, and two years ago, I got my captain's licence and merchant mariner document. I have a USCG 100GT Master's license and a MM ordinary seaman's card. I will forget to dress in the morning before I forget to take a knife with me. I use one every day, on the boat, or at home. I can't be without. Currently I carry a Dyad to work, and a dragonfly at home. I also have an extensive list of spyderco models, and have sold traded or given away several others that didn't fit or I never used. My only problem is that I always want MORE!

Cool thread!

I am a 32 year old Social Worker working for a big 10 university. I do evaluation of commuinity programs and initiatives, and am currently working on a project for the Kellogg Foundation.

Also, my wife and I had our first child just over four months ago. He is happy and healthy, and if he is lucky, will collect :spyder: s just like his old man! :D

Aloha FoM!

Well, I have seen ya about the Forums and I WAS gonna post something similar being that there have been many new people here!

Me...*sigh*, I guess I am the "baby" of the Corrections Officers since JimD and SimonG got more seniority. :D This is where God has placed me for now, so I just follow His lead!

Have ALWAYS been interested in MA, guns, bikes, and knives. I currently train some staff in weights and REAL SD. A few years ago, I recently rekindled my personal relationship with the Lord, and by placing Him first in ALL that I do, I have been accomplishing "impossible things" ;) . My current "thing" is learning the electric guitar :o

I deeply love my family, and I also truly care a great deal about the people I have met through this :spyder: forum! They are indeed a blessing in my life!

So that's me...whoopie I guess. Uh...why ain't no one posting pics of themselves this time?

God bless you FoM!

Hey DAYWALKER,

Good to see ya again. :) I agree...the people here are a blessing. Good folks.

This has been a pleasure to read this thread. It's nice to see all the different people we have here. The cool thing is that when needed we all have special talents that we can bring together for a greater good.

By the way, I loved your review of the Dodo. I would have never thought of even considering that knife for myself until you posted your review. Good stuff.

May the Lord also bless you! :)

Now that's a job I'd love to do. :) I dream of reading the Bible "first hand" (hebrew, arameic or even summerian), without the translation errors that inevitably occured in time :(

Xibalba,

That's a handsome young man you've got there!

DiAlex,

Even if the words never changed, we'd still have conflict and misunderstanding in the world. But then, maybe there were commandments in Aramaic against using a cellphone while driving which were discarded back then as they seemed too cryptic?

House Husband!

Post by UK KEN »

:D Hello All!

I'm a house husband living in Leeds, UK. No outstanding talents. My family and people I consider to be friends are important to me. I can be a bad tempered sod due in the main to long term pain (a medical problem) but enjoy life to the full, as much as possible.

Other than collecting and using knives I enjoy shooting (rabbits), riding my motorcycle, fishing, walking and wild camping. In association with my knife collecting my photographic skills are developing.....no pun intended (thanks Ted and Rob) and I have managed to build a very basic web site. :)

I am an ageing gradstudent in physical chemistry/surface science looking for a way out. My dream was once to work for Zeiss, so I got an undergrad in Physics with emphasis on optics and then a M.S. in Applid Optics. After that something seemed to have gone wrong and suddenly I find myself persuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Oh well, I still get to play with lasers a lot, but most of my time I spend as amateur technician, plumber, machinist, you name it. The only thing that I don't really do is chemistry.

An internship in a professional hotel kitchen in 9th grade got me started on kitchen knifes and a CF SE Delica on Spydies in 2003. These days I just want to spend my life sharpening knifes. Each day I spend about 2 hours on bladeforums and this forum and about half an hour with my nose in textbooks as I am supposed to. Oh well, you got to prioritize :) .
