Well, they have Machado. But, hes already acting like an arse.
Not sure if the Pads did the right thing by signing him or not.
I'm not really a sports watcher - I didn't get the gene I guess. Growing up I enjoyed playing the sport, more than watching it. Played baseball & then switched to soccer. Something about the '91 season just sucked me in and re-ignited my love of baseball. During last season I was training for a 10k. The treadmills at the hospital's wellness center have TVs so I started catching Braves games replays. There are some similarities between the 2 eras. Young talented players that mesh well as a team. The main difference is that the '91 era had great pitching (Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux) and ok batting. The current team has good batting and ok pitching. The current team needs some relief/closing pitchers bad. Regardless I think they will be an exciting team to watch.
It was only appropriate. Ruth played for the Braves and it was Aaron, a Brave, that broke his record.
I understand. I've played far, far, more than I've ever watched.Halfneck wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 9:18 amI'm not really a sports watcher - I didn't get the gene I guess. I did follow other teams some. When I lived in California (82-86) I liked the Oakland A's. I also liked Cal Ripken Jr as a player due to his dedication, and by extension enjoyed watching him play with the Baltimore Orioles.
Both my son's played Rec league baseball, but didn't continue at the High School level. My oldest was so-so, but excelled at Cross Country. My youngest is my natural athlete and was outstanding. Living in the South though Football is dominant so he started playing that with friends. He was good, but got burned out and switched to Track. Still, the memories of playing catch with them in the backyard as kids are some of my fondest.
Old days with the Braves we use to bring coolers into the stands, go buy a Coke and mix up drinks :DSpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 10:35 amWhat are your favorite snacks and foods and drinks to enjoy while watching the big game?
Mine: popcorn and peanuts (A mix if possible), hot dogs (grilled over boiled), and a good drink of some sort.
Yeah! Although we got swept by those nasty cards today:(
