Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
I think you'd probably have trouble matching the gold exactly, but you might be able to find some TiCN coated screws with a matching tint. I'm interested enough to check it out, actually.
Edit: no dice, wasn't able to find any commonly available TiCN coated screws that would work.

I think you’re probably right.
I’m going to do some hunting on the ‘bay and a couple other places to see what I can come up with.

I especially love how the lettering on the blade is perfectly lined up with the vertical blade line. I'm not sure what you call that raised, non-sharpened area on the blade near the pivot.

It's the ricasso.
Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
so.... how *does* SG2 from Spyderco stack up?
I know it's highly esteemed in the Kitchen knife world, but as HAP40 has proven, not all HTs are equal and a steel that has it's hardness lowered for the sake of durability can be quite different from it's harder iterations.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Just a heads up, but Massdrop has the SG2 Endura available for sale on their website right now. Only 16 hours left. I foolishly cancelled my order last time, so I decided to go through with it.

Grabbed a Delica. Glad I was able to snag one. Hope it’s a good choice! Pricey as **** for FRN scales.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Second this. I asked a similar question in the 'G-10 Delica/Endura in Super Gold' thread a few days ago and still haven't received any feedback. Everyone seems to be hyping how well done these were and these are not to be missed, but there's nothing in regards to their performance. I hope that's not a bad sign :o. I think most people jumped on this run for their collectability over usabilityawa54 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:43 pmso.... how *does* SG2 from Spyderco stack up?

Thanks for the heads-up on available Enduras! I guess I'll be able to comment on R2/SG2s qualities soon :)

My Endura arrived with good fit and finish- even grind and locks up tight. It did however have a nasty burr wire edge folded over. A quick hit on the Sharpmaker and diamond strop took care of that. Steel feels hard on the ceramic and does take a very fine edge. I will be carrying it and doing EDC tasks and will continue to sharpen and evauate. Mine is reasonably thin behind the edge at about .019. Overall seems a decent package but not sure it's worth the premium over VG10 for anyone but collectors.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Did we ever reach a consensus on whether the uneven lamination lines were purely cosmetic, or could cause issues after long term usage? I just got an SG2 Endura in, and the lamination line is twice as tall on one side compared to the other.

Unless the lamination line actually crosses over into the bevel you'll be fineStuntZombie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:36 amDid we ever reach a consensus on whether the uneven lamination lines were purely cosmetic, or could cause issues after long term usage? Even then, does it matter? The SG2 is still in the middle...Marulaghost wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:35 pmUnless the lamination line actually crosses over into the bevel you'll be fineStuntZombie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:36 amDid we ever reach a consensus on whether the uneven lamination lines were purely cosmetic, or could cause issues after long term usage? It's 100% a cosmetic issue, nothing to worry about.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Thanks for the info gentlemen. I’m still trying to decide if this one is a keeper or not. I think I forgot just how big the Endura is.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!
Just received my Endura and Delica in SG2.
Both are perfect in fit, finish and excellent sharpening, nice crisp apex.
The lamination is even on both sides and consistent better than many HAP-40 blades in my collection.
I have found Seki manuf. to be excellent for many years and have 30+ knives in Delica, Endura and Stretch designs.
Regards,
FK
