Hi guys, I’m a fan of the golden era of tactical knives. Mid to late 90s.
One of the best is the C36 and it’s held up well over the past 20+years.
Hoping to add to the stable with a 97 model with the two screw clip soon...

Anyone else got a soft spot for the early Militarys?

I've got a late 90's (3 screw clip, 440V) version that I pulled out just the other day after many years. Somehow it never made it into the carry rotation and is as fresh as the day it was born. I'm going to have to do something about that. The new REX 45 Millie needs a companion.

Yep. Got one for the safe (front) and one for EDC (back), both 440V:

Here's my 440V SE Military with single liner and Dino jimping. It doesn't get carried as often as it's younger (PE) brothers, but I still love it - especially its lighter weight. I also definitely prefer the Dino jimping over the modern type. This is definitely the oldest Spyderco in my collection.

Always been a fan. An old 440V single liner Military was the first Spyderco I really fell in love with. The size was just right, and it was incredibly light for how big it is.

Just managed to score a very early one NIB with the two screw clip and the heavy duty jimping on the choil.
One day I hope to score an all black version.
I’m pretty sure these early ones were hand ground too, each blade grind is always a tad different - not perfect from side to side l

This is one model that has really stood the test of time.

I have been on the look out for a 2 screw clip model for literally years and always seem to miss them. I am always a day late and a dollar short.

Until this week, when I found a used one for pretty cheap on ebay. Looks a little rough, but I will clean it up and carry it.

My 2 screw landed this morning.

A couple of hours of cleaning and getting the corrosion off and she came out very good. I completely disassembled the knife. I had to use naval jelly to get some rust off.

I think the knife was just neglected as it appears to have the factory edge and it is razor sharp. Excellent lock up. All in all a great haul for well under 200 on Ebay!

This one will be in rotation.

That one scrubbed up very well. Looks superb.
Great deal too. Hard to find those old two screw clip models for a fair price in decent nick.
I had to return the one I ordered recently. It was in very poor shape.

440v was and still is a great steel. Unbelievably wear resistant.

Hi Sal, thanks for dropping in, we have corresponded before. I used to write the odd article for Knives Australia magazine which is now sadly defunct.
You must be especially proud of the Military model, a real cornerstone piece of the 1990s tactical knife explosion.

BTW, I have a soft spot for the old models but I must say that the work you guys are doing now, especially the USA made models , is outstanding. The build quality and refinements are top notch.

This one finally arrived today. Fully serrated ATS34 model circa 98. BNIB
Nicely centred, perfect lock up ( didn’t even need to adjust the eccentric pivot pin) and razor sharp.
This one is like a chainsaw.
