We regret to inform you that Mr. Howard Viele has passed. He was a knifemaker's knifemaker. One of the best. The industry has lost a real treasure. Our condolences to his family and friends.

I don’t pretend to know anything about the man other than his collaboration with Spyderco. I’m sorry to hear of his passing Sal. I’ll have to spend some time learning about him and his work. My condolences.

Some of my favorite knives are his designs; a great mind at what he did.
May he rest in peace :(

Maybe a Sprint Run of the old Viele model from the late 90s/early 2000s would be well in order. The blade on that knife always reminded me a lot of the JD Smith model. Really sorry to hear about Mr. Viele's passing. We sure have lost a lot of great knife makers and designers in the past 5 years especially. A Sprint Run of the old Spyderco Viele model with a Supersteel would truly be cool.

I honestly was not really aware of Mr. Vieles designs, but looked some up just now. Very sad that he´s gone. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

Howard was a wonderful man who had a profound influence on the knife world. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. May he rest in peace and his contributions never be forgotten.
