I made a knife
I made a knife
I recently got to visit my local cutlers and made myself a knife, with substantial help.
It’s a 1075 drop point skinner type thing-
I have to say it’s a ton of fun this knife making

Very nice Dave! That grind looks nice and thin. What size stock did you use?

Wow!! Looks great.
My wife and I are gathering the equipment to make custom scales for spyderco mules and other "pre-made" blanks.
Nice work.

It’s 3.5mm stock and the grinch as done totally by hand- no guides-just a belt grinder. The Meat man wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 1:00 pmVery nice Dave! That grind looks nice and thin. What size stock did you use?
Given that the forge is like 15min from my house I may actually take this up as a hobby, it’s not often you get access to an opperation that gives back as much as they do.

I would have liked to spend more time in the scales, I spent most of my time grinding out the blank and heat treating-
I have several ideas Im going to make up some templates and see if I can’t get something happening.

Given the time involved... I’ll just buy a Kizer lol although I could pattern new blades from inferior steel, you know, cause life is just too easy.

Great knife. I like it. I wish you would make one with some polymer handle scales, too.
