Do we know release date yet?
March 19th 10am MST $199
I don't think its shipping on the 19th. Collectors club hasn't been notified yet. Maybe that's when you can order?

I ordered my first Shaman the other day. Haven't received it yet. If I love it, maybe I'll go for this one. But I'm thinking if I get another it would probably be the rumored cruwear and micarta sprint.

Thank you. I really want some of these tool steel models but if I can't carry them...oh well. Still cool to see the shaman come out in a new configuration though.
I carried my 52100 Military quite a bit in rain and show. I let it patina naturally and when it showed any signs of rust I polished it back shiny with Flitz and started the patina over. It does have some light pitting but that's part of the tool steel experience. I wouldn't buy one unless you can live with the occasional blemish on the blade.

I have had the opposite results with my M4 Mantra, it refuses to rust or even patina. I had a Rex45 PM2 that started rusting almost instantly. I put it in my pocket, got in the car and drove to the job. Thirty minutes later when I opened it to cut some packaging at the jobsite, there was rust all over it.

M4 on the other hand, I carried daily for several(3?) months and it shows only the faintest discoloration in one spot, I can't catch it in a picture. The only maintenance I do to it is mineral oil on the blade once every two weeks or so.

I live in the mountains of N. Georgia. Hot, humid and nasty.
I'm in the mountains of E. Tennessee so hot, humid, & nasty describes both locations perfectly.
Here's a picture of my Mantra from today, I haven't oiled it in about 2 weeks.
Image

I'll oil it later and post a picture, most of the discoloration will disappear. That has been carried almost daily for the past several months during all the wonderful weather we've been having. I just swapped back over to the Caribbean this week.

It's a dilemma.. I like the satin finish blade, a lot!
The petrified snot scales, not so much..

I find them to be much better looking in person, they are more of a frost white. They do not look green to my eye at all, only in pictures.

I still kind of miss my Chinese Folder.

I just got a standard s30v Shaman. Very nice :)
I'm not a huge fan of the Natural/jade G10 although I do love M4! Totally agree that M4/CF would be more alluring.
Think I'll wait for a Cruwear variant. Hopefully it is CF or micarta.

It's a very nice piece. The Golden Knife Makers are really showing their skill.

There was much discussion about the Shaman being a "Plain Jane" model without the exotic materials. I explained that this opened the door for "Exclusives" with exotic materials.

I'd rather wait for the Micarta Shaman myself. But i hope this one sells well so we can see more sprints in the future. It's a great knife design!

Would sales of the Shaman have been lower if it was released in an exotic steel from day 1? I guess it is hard to say for sure, but I was surprised by the statement above.

We are knife knuts and many of us like non stainless steels.

We have been told many times that the mass market prefers stainless.

There have been a few knives that came out of the gate in a non stainless but generally they start out with a mass market steel option.

I see no issues with starting with black g10 and s30V as long as the sprints/exclusives follow. It works well for the golden models. The Japanese black G10/VG10 is a whole other story. They have killed a few good models that way.

I like the combo of G10 & VG10....but asking $200 for that feels a bit much for me. The $125 I paid for my Police 3 sat fine with me though.

I'm really torn between this, the DLT exclusive pm2 being released on the same day, or saving money. XD

Well I finally got my hands on a Shaman today and it really is a great knife. The contoured scales set it apart.

I’ll wait for Cruwear and micarta.

Jade G10 leaves me jaded.
