If its priced $20 or so more than the standard Para 3, like they are in the G10 version...i see this one not selling nearly as well as the Para 3 LW. For being a rather small knife, that leaf shape is also a bit of a pocket hog.

Great question, I was wondering that myself after I made my post. That could be a difference maker.

In my experience, yes. S30v seems to hold an edge for me noticeably better than BD1N.

Aside from the Sage 3, which is a bit wider than the other versions, the Sage series carries about the same as the Para 3s.

Flip that Para 3 on top Pat! :p

You are right. Similar, but really depends on the size of your pockets and if you're carrying your phone or keys in the same pocket. I know when I've had to be fancied up a bit for work with some nice khakis, the Sage 5 in my pocket made it a bit difficult to get my phone out...though totally subjective depending on your pants, phone and case for your phone.

That's just my own personal opinion from my experiences.

Interesting. My phone, knife, keys and wallet each live in their own pockets.

I typically carry my smaller folder in my front right pocket, along with my phone...maybe I need to switch things up a bit.

i am so down with a lw sage 5. i would also like the cf sage 5 as well. that would be sweet. frn lw sage 5. any idea on colors or standard black.
i also see that the great this is it still has liners like the delica.

Edit. i see alot of ppl must carry it in their front pocket, i have never carried there always my back right pocket with my wallet in my left and phone on a clip outside my pocket. i dont see why more ppl dont carry in their back pocket.

The reason I put the Para 3 on the bottom is to show that it's actually wider than the Sage at the Spydie hole. Yes, the spine of the P3 narrows quickly but it really is a toss up IMO.

The fact that you try to cram your phone or your keys in the same pocket as your knife says it all. :p The only thing in my RFP is a knife, sometime two if I drop a Manbug in the bottom. I could probably add my phone to the right pocket when I'm wearing cargo shorts but there's no reason two with all the other pockets.

Back to the topic....Hooray for the Sage 5 LW. Looks like a big Chaparral LW. It even appears to be the same color. I'm trying to reduce the number of knives I have. So I'll probably pass. Nice knife though!

Is it confirmed that it is going to be S30V? Wish they would have stuck to CTS-XHP like the Chap LW. Or Elmax would have been nice.

Nice! Thank you for sharing! I want one too! Maybe more so than the para3. Anyone else notice how excited Eric seemed to get as soon as he pulled that sage out?

I've been hankerin' for a Sage 5 for a while. Think I'll just wait for the FRN version now. I'm not gonna be able to resist the Ikuchi for long though.
