Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
Alright, we have a discussion about the "Spyderco Sharpened Pry Bar". Now let's get into the other size range, as some people on here would like this.
If Spyderco were to make a line of folders with blade stock in the 1.9 and thinner mm range, what shapes and what designs would you want to see, and what steel would be able to stand up to the stress while also being good at slicing?
Sort of like a Spyderco Opinel?

Something similar in size and shape to the Bradley Air. BD1N would be my first choice of the steels Spyderco typically uses.

Rex45 para2.

Chaparral would still work a tad thinner..
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

Thinner Shaman in Vanax SuperClean.
Re: Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
Thinned out Delica in AEB-L. (I know this generally would be difficult due to the Japan origin, but we've seen S30V in a Delica so who knows).

That is a good design idea. While I like the saber grind, do you at times prefer the original pointier Delica and Endura, like was on the older models?

Roadie. Surprise me on the steel

No thanks. I like blades that cut, FFG, but aren’t wafers, like the Native 5 and Caly 3, etc.

Ever tried a Chaparral? 2mm, but far from feeling like a "wafer"...

Re: Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
I have 2, and they're okay for their length, but I even think the Delica could use another half mm of blade thickness. Not the wharnie though. For some reason, it seems beefier.
- best wishes, Jazz.
Re: Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
Ok, so we feel different concerning blade stock... I am glad that the Delica is not thicker... and also glad that Spyderco makes knives in thicknesses for almost everyones likings :)

Me too, bro. :)
You know, I think I'll carry the FRN Chap today.
- best wishes, Jazz.
Re: Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
Ok, then I'll do so too!! Had to change from my HAP 40 Stretch to the Chap though, cause where I live it is 3 p.m. and the Stretch was in my pocket till right now..
Wish you a great Sunday! :)

Re: Ultra Thin Blade Spyderco: What steel and what design would you want?
A Sage 5 but thinner, in LC200N and aluminum or ti scales with a cool intricate geometric design machined in. Going to have great edge retention and never will rust, and apparently LC200N is a very tough steel too which will bring utility and resilience to a thin blade. Price it at $250 ($380ish MSRP?) as an ultra premium slicer - Ti chaparral's big brother. I wonder how thin you can make a compression lock though... it'd be cool to see Spyderco push the limits in this regard.

I would love to try a stretch with a 1.5-2mm spine in hap40 or xvc11
