Re: Warehouse knife
I work ina warehouse too, I use a Cara Cara 2 and a Ladybug around the sheeple in the store front. Cara Cara 2 deploys well with gloves, I think an Endura would be a little better because of the edge retention. I’m sharpening this Byrd at least once a week. It gets sharp so fast though 10 or 20 passes on the wet stone and you could shave with it.

Re: Warehouse knife
Pacific Salt SE would be my choice in that environment. Salt 2 SE if you're worried the size of the Pacific would raise eyebrows.

Re: Warehouse knife
I finally broke down and made one out of leather because l couldn’t find the right one for me. This way you can customize it to hold what you want and how you want.

Re: Warehouse knife
Should I get the g10 or the lw version because I tend to drop things
Regularly and am worried about the lw having no liners and breaking
But the g10 is heavier which one is tougher ?

Re: Warehouse knife
Regardless of which you get, the handle scales won't break. LW has continuously been recommended. Many of the guys here that use their knives pretty hard for camping/outdoor work use LW models, plus as a warehouse type of knife it's also a much cheaper price point and easier to get in and out off your pocket than G10.

Re: Warehouse knife
Linered will no doubt be tougher but whether or not it's necessary is the question. I don't think dropping it will break it, I'd be more concerned about damaging the blade and tip if dropping it is a real concern.

Re: Warehouse knife
I agree with David. If you really are that clumsy and worried about dropping it...though not nearly as much fun or ergonomic as any of these Spyderco knives...do you think a standard, retractable box cutter might be best?

Re: Warehouse knife
Since I use it all the time it make sense to have a regular knife
Then having to replace the blades
Then having to replace the blades
Re: Warehouse knife
I'd try to learn not to drop your knife if you plan to spend $100+ on one. Or try a lanyard attached to your wrist maybe?

Re: Warehouse knife
I have a folding box cutter from husky with a quick release button that's all steel construction. Opens and closes smoothly.
If you weren't this route I'd say bring a stash of replacement blades with you.
It would be a quick, cheap, and relatively hassle free
Re: Warehouse knife
I think with having a bigger handle I might not drop it as much because
I have a Delica and I dropped it more because it is a small for me and
I have a lanyard on it and having a better grip

Re: Warehouse knife
If dropping it is a concern and you don't have a big need for stabbing/penetration (such as cutting holes into the sides of boxes) you might want to consider a sheepsfoot. That style of tip will at least minimise damage if you drop it. Otherwise I doubt that you'll easily break the tip off something like the Pacific. Maybe a very small chip but nothing that can't be sharpened out.

Re: Warehouse knife
I know I probably asked this how easy or hard is the manix 2 to open with gloves
Re: Warehouse knife
The Manix2 is super easy to operate with or without gloves. Tbh the first few times you try it, it’s going to seem hard. After a couple of days the spring breaks in a little but more importantly you get used to the action and it’s easy. If it really concerns you, they put out some backlock Manix 2’s not long ago that can still be found.
If you're wielding the sharpest tool in the shed, who's going to say that you aren't...?
Re: Warehouse knife
Cao 87, what exactly are you doing with the knife, in the warehouse. What situation are you in that has you dropping it so much?
If you’re in a fast paced, repetitive environment that requires lots of knife use maybe a fixed blade with a drop in sheath/ scabbard might be the go. Like a butcher would wear.
Or a quicker/easier access retention system for your folder. I know if I had to quickly, repeatedly clip a knife to my pocket all day I’d be dropping it too. You could rig up a magnetic clip system for securing the knife outside your pocket. Get hold of some some small, strong neo magnets and set them into the knife handle. Frn would be perfect for this. Keep a small piece of steel or more neatly arranged magnets in your pocket and have a quick snap on/off system for using your knife.
Velcro would work too. A patch of the outside of your pants and a piece on the knife. The sound would get annoying though.

Re: Warehouse knife
Ok I work a floral warehouse where they ship flowers to the US and Canada. Anyways product
Comes in from growers on skids usally with shrink wrap on and sort the boxes on skids to go to
The different flower shops/grocery stores. I wear gloves because it is easy on my hands to carry
Boxes. And I have a pouch where I put the knife, pen for signing invoices and a marker for sometimes
Relabeling boxes. So I use the knife for cutting shrink wrap, sometimes strapping and cardboard.
I don’t think I am allowed a fixed blade where I work.

Re: Warehouse knife
I think the manix 2 is going to be to big for me
Re: Warehouse knife
I'd go with a Salt 2 serrated myself. Small but not tiny, enlarged thumb hole will be easy to open one handed, and one of the beefier linerless FRN handles. H1 is also rust proof so working around plants/soil you won't need to worry about rust, and serrations will cut shrink wrap like nothing. It'll also work great for pallet straps and rope/twine etc. The tip is thicker and stronger so it shouldn't take a lot of damage from dropping it.
Yep Salt 2 that's your knife.

I forgot to mention the product comes in boxes and then sorted on to skids
