Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
I am gonna but the LW Para 3. Nothing against the Sage 5, but I already have a Sage in S30V. So I really wanna try out the BD1N.
Or save yourself then trouble and buy both :D

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
If you search, I believe there was a fairly recent thread where someone was asking about the Sage 5 or Para 3. Just incorporate the LW model Para 3 instead. Having less weight, deep carry wire clip, new steel to most of us and for significantly less money.

Para3 LW all day for me. I prefer the blade shape of the para3 and I am a big fan of frn.

Sage 5, hands down the better knife! At very least as well made, prettier, better quality materials, and better ergos for me.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
For a one-and-done collection piece, the Sage 5 distills a lot of Spyderco into a single knife. If you don't have other knives with nice materials, it's worth a splurge.
As a knife you use for work and play, with other knives/objects in your life showcasing things like carbon fiber, the Para3LW is a great value and should be an excellent cutting tool.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
I just preordered my Para 3 LW last night! Now to play the waiting game! :D
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
Normally I wouldn't take sides on an important question like this, but as a duty to all I will have to come down on the side of the Para 3 LW.
Can you find it and can it cut?
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
Typically I choose the Sage5 over the Para3.
Sage5 has non free-spinning hardware and a non press-fit lanyard tube, making disassembly easy, and the handle is thinner than the Para3.
Para3 has a free-spinning stand-off and press-fit lanyard tube, making disassembly difficult, and the fatter handle combined with lack of contouring makes it uncomfortable in my hand. The stock pocket clip also creates a hotspot for me (end of the clip in the rear choil area), as well as giving the knife its obvious super shallow carry.
The Lightweight version of the Para3 looks like it addresses the issues of disassembly, and has more contouring in its scales, AND has a deep carry clip that keeps the end of the clip out of the rear choil, so that would fix all of the issues for me.
Don't know if I'd take a LW Para3 over a Sage5 until I get the LW in hand.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
I don't own a Sage. Came real close when Sage 2 was priced nicely while being discontinued.
I handled the Sage 5 at SFO. I own a regular Para 3, and the ergos work better for me over the Sage. Definitelly getting a Para 3 LW.

Sage 5 happened to be my favorite spyderco,it's always in my pocket
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
You don't have to remove the lanyard tube to disassemble the Para 3. Only if you want to replace the scales.kvdo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 10:39 amTypically I choose the Sage5 over the Para3.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
Any update on when the Para3 LW will be released?
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
Any idea on Para 3 LW release date? This will be the first Spydie for me in a LOOOOONG time.
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
I believe it's been said in the reveal page, anywhere from 90-120 days from the day of the reveal.

Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
If I'm disassembling my Para3 for cleaning, I like to remove the scales to make sure there isn't any moisture/rust building up between the liner and the scale.
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
That makes zero sense. You can take it totally apart and clean it and liners without removing the lanyard tube. Trust me, I know a little about the Para 3 and have taken a few apart.

How do I clean between the liner and the scale without removing the lanyard tube?
Re: Sage 5 or Para3 LW?
Well my friend, lift from the blade pivot point and rotate the liner lock. *Edited - Unnecessary and disrespectful* - TazKristi
