Phoenix rising
Phoenix rising
Who else would love to see a return of the Phoenix?
I swear it’s one the best looking Spydercos I’ve seen. Some type of limited run, possible or pipe dream? Please Sal, I’m fiending for one of these bad boys, Ivory white micarta scales would be a sweeeeet thing

Re: Phoenix rising
I had to google it. That is a very sweet looking knife.
Re: Phoenix rising
Suspect it crashed and burned first go round; so it really would be rising from the ashes.

Re: Phoenix rising
I used to own one. I have pictures somewhere on my desktop.
I got rid of mine for a few reasons. I didn't like the scales only covering 3/4 the handle. Ball lock wasn't my cup of tea (cbbl is much better). Heavy for the size. Not quite as pointy as I'd like.
It was incredibly well made and had wonderful ergonomics, but I found many other models worked better for me.

Re: Phoenix rising
I bought one on clearance with the intent of making a "dark phoenix" version: bead blast the handles, anodize them, and make some carbon fiber replacements for the white ivory scales. Well, by the time I was ready to customize it, the knife had become worth so much I couldn't bring myself to do it. I wish I would have picked up a second one on clearance, because I'd be able to convince myself to mod one of them if I had a mint condition spare.

Re: Phoenix rising
That's about what my collection looked like a decade ago. Ended up selling off everything besides a PE Pacific Salt, SE Tasman, Police 3 and Aqua Salt. Only one I regret letting go of is my C95 Manix. The Manix XL is better in a lot of ways, but there's a certain charm to the C95.anagarika wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 11:59 pmPharmagator has it:

Also had to Google it.
Like the micarta white handles but afraid not much else.
OP
It’s always good to include/post a photo of what you are talking about in posts, otherwise ‘some’ people just flip to the next topic.

Re: Phoenix rising
You’re right and I apologise, threads like this feel like a cheese sandwich without the cheese. To be honest, I’m not very good at the internet and don’t know how to post pics. One of these days I’ll spend the time to learn.
Back to the Phoenix. This knife has made me realise that more than missing this particular model, I’m missing some class in my collection. Some polish and some shine. I have classy fixed blades and traditionals but nothing in the class of function or form that a Spyderco offers. Those Howard Viele models epitomise class. Any other suggestions are welcome. I’m eyeing off a vallotton lil sub hilt that fits the bill.

Re: Phoenix rising
This was not one of my favorite models. It was okay, but other Spydercos have fitted my needs better.

Wow, that is one odd looking knife.
Micarta on top of titanium, rather exotic lock, that thing must have been expensive...

Re: Phoenix rising

Re: Phoenix rising
One of the more beautiful designs Spyderco ever made IMHO. I would definitely buy one if they made a sprint but I would regrind the tip to my liking.
