The tip is an easy mod, if you want. I wish the Sabre grind was higher, though.

I like the pointy tips as well.

Have been buying old Enduras but Going to pick up one or two Old Delicas even though they are a bit small for me.

I break tips off almost all of my pm2's and miliaries. Never happened to an Endura. You won't find me making my tip weaker.

How to you do that ?

What's the tjickness of blades / tips on PM2's and Militaries compared to Endura ?

I abuse my knives (not just Spyderco including getting into joints of big animals) but rarely break tips.

Just was about two reply roughly the same: One of the main reasons I carry one of my Enduras way more often than my Millie, is that I am not worried about breaking the Endura tip, while it is still acute and pointy enough... (though I have to admit: Never broke my Millie tip either; it´s my first and only Millie, do not have a PM2)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

It's inadvertent. Most of the time I look and find the tip is gone, not knowing what caused it.

I have already accepted that it will happen to my Maxamet pm2, and that I will be modifying it. Everyone claims to put their knives through "hard use" and be fine. But I'd like to see exactly what they're doing (not doing) to never break one of these tips off. Given it probably won't happen around the office.

You know joints of animals - like Spines, knee joints, elbows, hip joints ?

Try to bend joint back and dig knife in to cut the sinews, cartlidge etc etc, twisting and turning the knife.
Bones can close up as you are trying to twist and cut.

I must admit I am probably aware of what I'm doing and don't push it past the breaking point.
My Endura does have a slightly bent tip on it though !

Endura in what steel if I may ask?

FRN Endura 1 in Aus-8

I don’t work in an office and cutting up cardboard boxes - which is rare - is probably the easiest use it gets!

Thanks for the reply! Just was courious, cause despite the Endura - tip is more robust than the one on the PM2, I think for example one in ZDP would probably break before it bends.

The endura is just a great knife. As is the delica, for those who don't value length.

Good to know. Thanks

Aus-8 and others might be old school but they work and don’t rust and it’s done everything I’ve asked of it in 27 years!

I stick with what I know lol

Re length, the Endura 1 has one of the longest blades in that model. That’s why I stick with it.

I've chopped and batoned with Millies, and have never carried one to an office job. No broken tips. That's what the flat heads on my multitools are there for.

Given that has nothing to do with the tip of a knife, I have never done anything like that, and yet, it happens. But it doesn't happen with any other model, or with any other knife period. Logic dictates that it's something about models with a very pointy tip.

I think there's a reason the endura's tip is made the way it is, other than "let's just remove some steel"

I replaced my first Spyderco, a stainless CE Jasper which I loved, with a stainless CE Delica (which I also love). It is an earlier mark, maybe a 2 or 3, so it has the pointy tip. I have to say though, I do really like the flat-ground and slightly sheepsfoot blade of the Delica 4. If Spyderco made a solid SuperBlue Delica (or Endura) that would be AWESOME ;)
My collection so far: 52100 Military (2); 52100 PM2 (2); 52100 Para3; Stretch2 V-Toku; KnifeWorks M4 PM2; BentoBox M390 PM2; BentoBox S90V Military; Police4 K390; S110V PM2; SS Delica AUS-6; Wayne Goddard Sprint VG-10
Wish list: Hundred Pacer; Sliverax; Mantra; 52100 PM2 SE; Kapara

Thanks @Holland for the pics. It was enough to make me want to pointy up my super blue delica. I taped a piece of sand paper to my desk and it only took a little bit. Not perfect, but I like the tip much more. Thanks.
