It's tricky, apparently, to keep all holes in the FRCP and the backspacer portion of the lock concentric with the original holes. If you don't, the lockup will be too slight, there will be blade play, or lockup won't happen.

That’s what happened to me. Although I didn’t do the screw conversion, I did attempt a swap from frcp to g10 and vice versa. I was unable to achieve lockup with the blade from a g10 model into the frcp. On the other side, I had extremely late lockup with the frn’s blade in the g10 handle. So I just swapped the 2 g10s I had.

man... i'd love to convert my manix to screws instead of pins.

I was going to, but after posting a WTB ad for a donor Manix, the person who converted this one reached out to me. I, therefore, haven't bought the screws and stand offs to convert my other Manixes yet.

i found someone on instagram that has replaced the frcp on a manix lw with g10. its still the same lw knife design, but g10. i’ve been considering having that done instead of this conversion. it would be tougher and i could disassemble it if necessary.
