DLC hardware having reaction to nano oil??

#1

Post by Kyle8734 »

Has anyone ever experienced bleeding coming from DLC coated hardware when using Nano Oil or any other lubricants? I was just wondering because I have taken apart my Native 5 Salt twice now, cleaned everything then used a small amount of Nano Oil on the pivot and where the lock bar spring contacts the bar and each time after opening the knife back up I see a bunch of blackish/blueish color inside. Almost looks like ink from a pen or something. I wish I would have taken pictures to post but forgot sorry.

DLC is going to wear in the pivot regardless of what lube you use, it's a friction area.

The lock bar spring is heat treated steel,,, it easily rubs off DLC coating as it flexes and moves against the lock bar surface.
The lock bar spring also has sharp edges where it contacts the DLC coating,,, remove it and round off the edges.

Ok thanks, yea that makes sense. I dont think the knife needs oil or anything beings there are no washers anyway.
