There was quite a bit of hype leading to the drop of this knife, yet I really haven't seen or heard too much about it in the performance aspect. Interested in how it's performing for those who have one already.

Seems like this happens quite a bit :/ Lots of hype, the knife gets released and then it's quiet (Anything in REX45, 4V, Super Blue Caly Jr, DLT PM2/20CV) Threads get loaded with pics when they arrive new, and then nothing afterwards. Nothing to learn from that!!
that was the point of this post. i’m not really testing the knife the way youtube reviewers do. i’m just sharing my observations as i use it. others are free to add theirs.

I personally got disappointed in this model.
The knife handle is too blocky with hot-spots where it terminates by the blade (4 protruding corners), and it makes it nearly impossible to grab very tightly without regretting it.

A contoured handle would transform this knife to an absolute gem..!
so, i know this is a common complaint for this and the manix. i don’t understand the complaint against the knife while in use. i find it perfectly comfortable. i will concede, however, that it is less comfortable carrying it inside my waistband compared to the contoured pacific salt. i can really feel the blockiness iwb.

Handle is comfortable to me. Carries well in both front and back pockets.

Here's how it ended up. I placed it next to a native 5 lw s110v and a tasman salt to compare colors. I also took a photo with flash and without.

The scales on the caribbean took much less color but are perceptibly more subdued.

Was that done with black rit dye?

As far as the ergonomics go, I think it could use some contouring. However, as is I quite like the more “blocky” look. It makes it seem more solid, and it stood out to me when I first picked one up. Not sure how I would prefer it(contoured or not). I just love this model!

it’s hard to tell the color. it looks like it’s somewhere between the s110v lw blue and black. is that accurate? did you leave it in long to get that color? thanks for the photos.

Looks good! They need to make it easy on us and drop a blacked out Native Salt soon. And I'm still waiting on a Blacked out Dragonfly 2 Salt. Those would make my 2019 a great year! :)

I used the whole 8oz bottle of dye in a saucepan with water vinegar and a drip of dish soap. I left it in about 3 hours.

Hi there, it’s not a RIT dye job, it’s a scale swap with the orange Cutlery Shoppe exclusive. :)

Re: RIT dyeing scales, I have an older thread where I went over the process with liquid RIT dye for G10 scales. This process is identical for FRN scales (I’ve dyed many sets of both types). Hopefully it has some good tips for you all:

the same spot is on the other side of the edge as well. it looks like there’s another smaller spot also. none of these spots were there before my trip to the beach today and they aren’t just rubbing off. the knife hasn’t been against any other metal and this isn’t it’s first swim in the ocean. any advice or thoughts on why i’m seeing (what looks a lot like) rust?
