Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

#1

Post by AlexRus »

There is nothing in Spyderco Product Guide 2019 about Military and Paramilitary 2 models upcoming sprints and exclusives.
Anyone has any news about that? Let's share it with each other in this thread.

Ive seen rumors of a PM2 from St Nicks in the same Red G10/DLC 4V combo as their Para 3 exclusive from last year. I think people are also speculating that River Edge will do a PM2 in the same combo as their Olive Drab Green G10 / Brown PVD CTS-204P Para 3 exclusive from last year.

That's all well and good for PM2 lovers, but I am hoping they continue these lines into the Military and Native models.

I was told by one of the guys at DLT they will be doing another run of PM2’s with Red G10/M390. However, guy I talked to had no idea when this year they would be getting them or how many will be in the run. Well, atleast he said he had no idea.....lol

REC is doing a PM2 in a similar configuration as their Para 3, but they have not confirmed CTS-204P, in fact they say it is unlikely to be in CTS-204P due to quantity requirements.
They want to do something similar, so I’m assuming CPM-20CV. I’d welcome Elmax, since it is similarly resistant to wear/corrosion AFAIK. Then again Spyderco also have said they won’t put foreign steels in American made knives, so probably CPM-20CV.
Either way...this is so exciting! I hope this time they can cope with the internet traffics this time around.

REC... if you’re listening... M4. Or 10v if you’re feeling wild.
More K390 and 10V, please.

Military in CPM-20CV would be awesome if someone decided to make it... Or a rerun in M390 as well.

There is a push for a 10V PM2. But as been posted here, 15V may be better. Id buy either though

I'd love CPM 15V... I think my absolute favorite model for it would be the police though. But it (k390 also) seems like a strange choice of steel to be marketed towards police officers. Not all of them are really knife guys/afi's and may benefit from something tougher (and even softer) on a knife that long. But yeah, with 15% vanadium and that much carbon, I'd want something with a longer blade, capable of big slicing. But that's just my ideal choice. I'd get a pm2 any day. I wonder if MPL-1 could be a possibility once spyderco obtains the equipment that grinds Maxamet without issue. All these high wear resistant steels are so intriguing, and the pm2/military serve as the perfect platforms. Spyderco nor the customer can really go wrong.

I'd far prefer 20CV/204p/M390 to Elmax. In my experience the M390 family holds a working edge far longer than Elmax, which is easier to sharpen (not a real issue for me) and perhaps slightly tougher (again, not something I'm worried about on most folders).

What about scales? We have seen various colors of G10 on Military /Paramilitary 2 platforms. And we also saw PEEL PLY carbon fiber on Military in M390, 52100 and Paramilitary in M4, 52100. I wouldn't mind seeing POLISHED carbon fiber scales on Military/Paramilitary 2 platforms. Even if polished it's not too slippery in my experience, and it really shows the deep inside texture of carbon fiber tissue when polished. What do you guys think, eh?

I'd like to see some more love for the Military. CTS XHP, Cruware or the 20CV family of steels. There's always a new PM 2 just around the corner, but not so much the Military. I'm hoping to snare the BHQ DLC M4 when it's available.
