Paramilitary 2 204P 2013 vs 2018

I did some comparison photos of the two versions of this knife. Top one is 2013, bottom 2018.

Newer version has a larger ricasso and longer blade overall with identical scales.

CTS-204P on the new one, CTS 204P on the old one.

Different shades of green too. It's not foliage green IMO either, the Elmax Paramilitary 2 was more of a foliage green.

I posted these over on bladeforums too. Thank you Spyderco for releasing another awesome Paramilitary 2. :spyder:

I can't wait for the third round comparison photos. Hopefully it won't have to be 2023 before we see another set of these. :)

I've noticed on my 2018, the blade seems not as tall as my other PM2's, like more steel was ground at the edge.

Looks like the edges of the scales are more rounded on the original. I felt this with the one I have, but the new one isnt here yet to compare.

It was a limited re issue of a limited run. A dealer exclusive. None left. Youll have to buy second hand

I also have both versions. The new blade is also noticeably longer, thinner at the tip, and has the different ricasso grind which makes sharpening easier.

One difference that I notice is even more significant to me. The 2013 version is polished and smoothed all around the edges of G10 handle. It is more more comfortable in the hand.

Another minor difference is the lanyard hole. The older one was de-burred the newer one not.

Anyone who wants one, now is the time to get it second hand. There are a number available (in the $185 to $230 range) from folks who got more than one, or are deciding not to keep the one they just recently bought. I think that once this rush to unload is over in a couple weeks, the price will likely shoot back up to the $270-$340 range, or more.

Thank you Spyderco!!! I wish that this steel was regular production.

Must just be my hands (tradesman) but I like the newer sharper style of PM2 scales (yet to recieve my new CTS 204P) going of others compared to my older FG CTS 204P
