Para 3 seems to be a successful platform already for different steels.
I'd certainly be in for one.

Way too many Para varieties already. Hard to believe, but some of us prefer back locks. :o

I love my Police4, but I know I'm not alone in wanting a smaller locking knife in this steel for EDC. Seki hit K390 out of the park, so I crossed my fingers that a Seki run was inevitable. A full portfolio of lock back sizes would deliver the magic of K390 to a wider audience than a 4.5 incher.

That said, I'll still buy any knife in K390, just really hoping it's a model more popular as an EDC. Given the universal praise of this steel from everyone that has used it, why not release this steel in some popular models? The way sprints have been flying off the shelves I can't see how this would be a bad move for Spyderco.

Is there a US analog to K390? I know that M390 has made its way to the PM2, but it may be that Spyderco does not want to put K390 in some of their Golden models.

For the FRN Police, we're planning VG-10, ZDP and K390 variations. The ZDP and K390 versions are considerably more expensive to produce. I've been happy with my P4 K390 version and It finds it's way into my pocket often.

Would a K390 sprint series like the Endura family be more desirable or a single model? A series would be major project.

Glad to hear the FRN Police will come in both K390 and some high quality stainless runs. I can see myself getting one of each flavor.

I think a Delica or Endura sprint makes a lot of sense. Something between the Urban and Police in size.

For me I guess it depends on what that single model would be. I don't have much interest in the bigger models. So doing a run of K390 in the Endura family might be the way to go. That way we can pick and choose which models we want to buy. For me a Delica and Dragonfly in K390 would be hard to resist. On the other hand, I already have so many Delicas and Dragonflies I might prefer something else. Tough call for me.

That would be a major project, but would sell extremely well, I'm sure. I know I would but the Wharncliffe Delica, Stretch, and regular Delica.

That said, it would be cool to see another model to come out in this steel as it's standard issue.

For whatever it’s worth, k390 and lc200n are tops in my steel desires for next knives for different reasons obviously.
Personally, I like the k390 for individual models. I like the idea of a rookie. Hopefully, some exclusives will come rolling out after.

Put that steel in a native and send it to norway:)
Whatever model it Will be, make it more avaliable than a sprint, those are hard to Come by in my neck of the Woods and i would love to try the steel out.

ParaXL in K390 with DLC might just sell out faster than a military with the same treatment.

Much love here for compression lock & tip up!
Now you're talking. Para XL DLC K390!!

How about using it with a sprint run of the GB1? With grippy G-10 scales. :)

Endura run in K390 is too similar to the Police in size. A run in the Delica, Native, or Caly lines would be better.

Hi Sal,

I was wondering if you've made the decision and if you are willing to share which FRN texture pattern we're going to get on the FRN Police models.

Also, what color will each be? My first thoughts were that the ZDP will likely have dark green like the current ZDP Endura, VG-10 will have black, and K390 could have grey like the K390 Urban sprint.

Thanks!

I agree with this. Both big sellers and would create a nice Seki K390 lineup IMO.

Hi Attila,

We'll be using the same bi-directional texture as the Endura FRN family. It's an effective pattern for working, has good traction, the maker is comfortable with it and it's sot of his trademark. (We try to use different patterns for different makers). We'll use the same pattern for the Endela and the Rock Jumper. We'll use back for the VG-10 version, BRG for the ZDP. I haven't decoded on the K390 yet. Somewhere between gray and midnight blue.
