Great first knife mate.
If I could offer some advice so you get maximum enjoyment from it. Read up on sharpening, get some good gear and practice on a few ‘lesser’ knives to start. It’s worth the time and effort, a skill that will serve you for a lifetime.

That is a great knife choice. I have 3 Manix 2s, a translucent blue LW BD1, an orange Knife Center exclusive LW S90V, and a back lock S30V monster. I carry one of the LWs at least some part of every day.

I highly recommend the second knife be the Para 3. A recent national poll found that 98 out of 100 people prefer the Para 3 to water or oxygen. Absolutely, I saw this on the Internet.

Okay, it was my poll, but if you ask the members here they will all agree. Probably the only topic here with nearly unanimous agreement. :D

It's so crazy going with Maxamet as a first knife (crazy in a good way). Imagine only using Maxamet for a year, getting good at sharpening it, and then finally branching out to other steels one day.

Welcome from a an also-newbie on the forum! Though I´ve owned and own some Spydercos already. But not your model, it´s still on my wishlist.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Strong start there SLAC89. You either have great taste, or you're a lucky guesser, that's a really nice knife and a really nice steel from arguably the best production knife company around. Congrats and welcome :D Have someone get you a sharpmaker for Christmas and keep that Maxamet sharp! (plenty of pointers to be found here on the forum)

^ This!

You may change your mind and sell some knives you buy, but a Sharpmaker is forever!

Now your next model needs to be a C-36 Military with one of the supersteels. I recommend either M390, 204-P, XHP, S110V or if you're lucky maybe one of those REX-45 units.

Also you absolutely MUST get a full Spyderedged unit as a companion folder for your main EDC. Welcome aboard :)
