As long as the K390 G-10 version sticks around, I'll be happy. I honestly don't think I'd be into a VG-10 version at all.

I would love to see the VG-10 FFG offered in full Spyderedge, though if combo was the only thing available I would still be a buyer.

this is looking better each day,
and if it's affordable (VG10, FRN) it will surely be my first Police!

Hi Tom,

I'm planning a K390 FRN version as well. Whether or not the G-10 version sticks around depends on sales. Cost usually hurts G-10 variations.

K390 FRN works for me. :)

I wonder if a (lower price point) FRN version will actually help the sales of the G-10 version, since people can get into the platform at a lower price, and then decide they want to "move up" to the G-10.

Cost is a big issue right now. Most of the makers are making their knives in China, prices are low, quality is getting better and the general market is going for the lower prices. Making knives in Japan and Italy in higher cost materials is challenging to sell volume. Add to that the Chinese made counterfeits at low prices doesn't help.

This may not be practical, but I was wondering if it might be possible to source things like g10 or ti scales for various models in China, to be used on knives where the rest of the parts are manufactured and assembled by makers in other countries?

Something needs to be done with these fakes on ebay. I have reported this knife, even called in and talked to the fraud manager, still this knife is up and being bid on. Seller has not responded to any questions, and he has a 200+ positive rating? People are spending good money on junk. I try to report what I see daily, but this is a full time job. They get shut down, just to open another seller account a day later in a different name. They get notified by ebay to not include Spyderco in the description, which I follow and see that they were edited, but the photos still reflect Spyderco box, fake literature, etc. Ebay's review time is silly - if non existent. Why?, perhaps because they make money on the sale, etc. + a Fake Bradley Bowie just sold for $160.00+ that I had reported days before auction end, nothing.

Ebay couldn't / doesn't give a ****. It still makes money for them so they let it go as long as they can.
They are as loose with the rules with certain things as Facebook is with personal data !

I've reported the fake "Police" one's although pretty sure he didn't use the word Spyderco.

Dont mean to derail this thread - but this has lawsuit to me all over it. Ebay has a responsibility to take action, and somewhat quickly. Otherwise, why even have a report button.

I would think the burden of proof would be on them in court to provide the data on messages they received that were reported as a fake, what action was taken by them i.e. did they contact the seller, etc. and how much money did they profit by not doing anything at all.

Would like to know the $$$ on that.

I've actually seen a lot of "fakes" advertised as such ("counterfeit" or "copy" or "clone") on eBay lately. One guy had Yo2 copies that were selling for around $20.

Well there's always a Cara Cara XL if you want to compete head to head with the chinese knives :D

With the G10 ZDP189 Stretch2 being almost $100 more than the FRN version (171.4% more), the FRN Police4 might be close to $100.

If they can release the FRN Police 4 at that price, that would really be something.

I just realized that my math was based off of the BladeHQ price of $188.47, which works out to FRN being $109.96. But KC and others list it as $194.97 (35% off MSRP), which would work out to FRN being $113.75.

Even if it’s VG-10, I’ll definitely own one. Any upgraded steel is just the icing on the cake.

Alas, not in the 2019 catalog, which I guess means a 2020 release...maybe.

No, Spyderco is pursuing a new policy. The catalog only shows what's available now or soon to be available.
