I can only imagine that the heat treat will be improved. I wonder if Sal could weigh in on if Spyderco feels they have Maxamet down already or if there is a CQI aspect to the way they heat treat new steels.
Re: So Is Maxamet Dead Now?
You can all thank me for the return of Maxamet in PM2 and Para 3. I bought 2x PM2 this year at flipper prices and literally bought a Para 3 Maxamet 1hr before the 2019 catalog release lol :D :D :D

Sal, or anyone "in the know"....
How much notice will we have when the Maxamet pm2 makes its reappearance? I am very excited to see it back and absolutely want one. Will we have a few days or will it be last second? I don't want to miss out.
Also, are there still semi-tentative plans for a Maxamet Military?

Re: So Is Maxamet Dead Now?
Right?? I am sooo bored with the PM2 it is a good knife but does not compare to the full Military and the para 3's are just stubby cousins in my opinion. I get it not everyone can carry a 4 inch blade, bad laws made by idiots etc... but The Military in my opinion is still better.
I love the compression lock but have found my thumb resting on the compression lock more often than not and have released the blade by mistake while pulling it out and up from some material it was bound in, Thank goodness the finger choil came down and contacted my index finger instead of the blade. Still it was shocking and I have been very careful whenever using one of my compression lock knives after that, and remind myself of this flaw in the design. Over all the compression lock has more positives than negatives but could still use some added engineering to prevent this sort of accident.
Every since that day the compression lock has lost its position with me in favor of liner locks which I maintain are a superior fastening system for locking open a knife that is used as a tool and not an envelope opener.
I have to be more careful closing the knife with liner locks but that is something I can afford the time to do. With a super sharp blade in the deployed position while working with it I can do without the possibility of a hand hold mistake ending in deeply cut fingers.

A Maxamet Millie would be a strong buy for me.
