LC200N Native 5 Salt. Still no knife. Come on! When???

LC200N Native 5. Still no knife. Come on! When? How long will these old excuses be expected to stand?
It seems like it will be a year or so here soon with the pre-order. Will it even be here by Christmas?! I'm finally becoming inpatient, or at least upset. It's taken a while, but this is the first time I've considered possibly cancelling my preorder and getting a totally different knife with the money I've set aside. The only thing holding me back is my place in line, but I don't know if I'll ever preorder again if this is what is to be expected from buyers. Very discouraging.

hi LC200N,

Welcome to our forum.

Patience is a good thing. Upset gains no points here. They should be shipping soon. They are very nice.

You can cancel your order if you want to.

Welcome ! Upset over delays of knife that is a new production model?!?! I think the knife will be worth the wait. ..I'm getting two. Serrated goes to my son (to carry on his fishing boat alongside his Carribbean PE) and I'm taking the plain edge. These will drop at multiple vendors (once released) so you should be able to procure one no problem. Good luck and happy holidays!

I really want this knife as I love the lc200n knives I have so far. Sure I wish it was in hand already, but I'd rather wait and have some of the cqi stuff handled before I ever see it.

I've found that the only person getting upset over knife availability hurts is you (or me in my case). Things always work out on their own whether we throw a tantrum or not. You'll get your Native 5 in LC200N and then you'll totally forget that you waited so long for it. Have a nice, relaxing day my friend.

Don't worry, I waited over 30 years for a certain type of steel to show up as a production knife blade.

First of all, welcome to the forum. I like your choice of names. Lc200N is a great steel.

Second of all, don't worry. sal and the crew at Spyderco have things timed very well and also, you will be very glad when this knife finally arrives.

If I may ask, do you have any interesting design ideas for knives made of Lc200N stainless steel?

Same with me! I am glad you said this. As I have stated before, sal and Spyderco made my dream come true with H1 stainless steel knives, the Salt Series. When I was younger I would write short science fiction stories and one of the common themes in the stories was that the characters had access to a new form of stainless steel that was 100 percent rust-proof and had the toughness of carbon steel. It appears that H1 has achieved this. Thank you, Mr. Sal Glesser.

I feel that Spyderco shares too much and people get spoiled with information ... Plus the weekly, what should be the next sprint must get tiring

Absolutely, though I hope spyderco never stops sharing as much info with customers as they do.

To OP: A little perspective is a good thing. You know why there are occasionally really long periods between when prospective products are announced and when they're available? Because unlike almost all of their competitors, Spyderco doesn't wait to announce products until the eve of shipping to dealers. They tell us all about potential new products as soon as they're developed, let us handle them at knife shows far in advance of official announcements, and even formally announce products without waiting until the development cycle is completely finished.

While this means there sometimes are several months between announcement and availability, the alternative would be us customers having no idea whether spyderco even planned to make a native in lc200n until we're surprised by it out of the blue. That might solve your pre order frustration, but I'd rather know what was coming and be able to plan accordingly (i.e., I've been able to hold off on purchasing a couple knives in anticipation of the lc200n native and the upcoming Smock).

I will be glad when the Native Salt LC200N comes. I would have been happy with it being serrated H1. I am glad to have a Native Salt and I am glad to have a chance to try out LC200N.

Yeah let's rush production so we can post angry threads later about how upset we are about poor fit and finish.

I was really crazy antsy for the LC200N Native last summer, as I had a long sailing trip planned.
I wound up ‘settling’ for a SE PacSalt...and the thing blew me away!
In a way, it makes me kinda glad the Native wasn’t ready by then.

Now I have to decide if my next Spyderco purchase will be the Native Salt or the CF S90V.

it’s understandable to be frustrated. lots of people have been waiting for this one very impatiently. i remember thinking it was coming in june and being impatient then. we’re almost at the end of the year and still waiting. i get it.

in the end, it is just a knife and we all probably have plenty of those to get us by. ;)
