I like the D4 as is personally. The only thing I would like is for the blade to come to a fine point, so I wouldnt have to do it myself every time I buy a new one :D

A 1.5 or 2mm spine would be cool as well

Lol this thread again.

Wouldn't change much.
Wish hap40 or something similar was a standard steel for the knife.
A 2mm spine or .010 to .012 behind the edge thickness.
Same with the endura too. Don't change them, just make them thinner, if anything. I'm pretty okay with them now.

It could really use an internal stop pin like on the chapparal. Although that would probably increase the $$.

Linerless with threaded inserts for the clip screws like the Native 5 LW and Native 5 S30V / G10. Or linerless with the wire clip and the mounting hardware going through the handle. Give it a finger choil like the Byrd Meadowlark for those of with larger hands / thicker fingers.

the changes i would like to see in the delica would effectively turn it into a native 5, so i guess i’ll just get the native salt when it gets a black out treatment.

If it happens I'm hoping for something like a mini Police 4, but this Boomer52 mod fits my hand very well..

I would like to see the Delica 4 make a big change in colors. Current Delica 4’s besides for the black look
like they belong in a child’s Easter Egg basket. Very pastel.

I would like Spyderco to come out with a more tactical
military type colors. Dark Earth, OD Green, Flat Dark Earth , Dark Grey, Stealth Grey, Tactical Tans, Extreme Burnt Orange ,Coyote Tan, etc.....

I think these would be a big seller for Spyderco.
Even owners of current Pastel colors would buy another
Delica 4’s in tactical colors.

Also let’s see some DLC blade options. Black blades,
Dark grey. Etc. That would be very cool & very tactical.

Sal think how many more you could sell to color collectors who would have to buy one of each color.

We don't need a Delica 5, we need a LC200N FFG Salt 2.

I only want Sal's signature on the blade,a deep carry clip and more colors.Other than that, the D4 is perfect for me;i don't want to see it mutate into a weird Para3 or Meadowlark. But i have 5,so i don't worry too much...

I’d just like a pointier tip. The handle fits my hand great and is the main reason I keep coming back to it.

THINNER BEHIND THE EDGE, stronger backlock, pointy tip and linerless ... that's it ;)

I'm curious why are some of us against the liners in the D4?They add almost nothing weight wise and nothing width wise.

These threads are tough to read. For every ‘lose the liners’ post theres an ‘I love liners’ that follows. I guess thats why there are more than one model in Sypdercos catalogue.

Nonetheless, heres my idea of the perfect Delica for ME

-Half liner or ‘linerette’. Ala Manix LW or what you find on many Benchmade Axis models. Give some rigidity to the pivot area and enable the use of phosphor bronze washers. Would make a stop pin like the chaparral easy too.
I love my native 5 LW but I can’t carry it IWB because the linerless scales deform when i sit down. Not much, but enough that the corner of the choil rubs annoyingly when I open it.

-Delica 4 ergos are all wrong for my size L hands. Same story Endura. Which sucks because the Endura would be my no.1 knife if the ergos fit me. The 2 finger forward grip is too big for one finger and too small for 2.

-Spliter picker tip

-deep carry parkerised spoon clip

-Stainless but upgraded from vg10.

OR

An frn caly 3.5 will do!

^^ I agree on the liners, I like them. If “we” really need the Delica lighter, go to half liners to keep the pivot area strong. Go thicker as well like the Salt 2. I’m good with VG10 :D

The wire clip sure gets a lot of votes. Add mine. If it were tip-up only, the clip could be affixed with a Chicago screw, eliminating the need for metal liners. But then the tip-down fans would see it as a regression.
