yojimbo salt

#1

Post by ladybug93 »

i’ve brought this up in other threads, but wouldn’t it be nice if all blades that were designed for self defense were made with a rust proof steel? the matriarch 2 would be brilliant in h1, especially with such a fine tip. the yojimbo 2 would be amazing in lc200n and a full salt treatment like the caribbean.

knives for self defense should be low maintenance and trustworthy. they should always be ready to go. i keep mine in my waistband and i don’t want to worry about sweating on it.

anyone else interested in a yojimbo salt? no yellow and shiny though, please. :)

I'd like a Matriarch 2 Salt. I've come close to picking one up, but I'd be nervous about using it in utility capacity with such a thin tip. H1 seems to do well with thin tips, based on my Tasman Salt. I had a SE DODO ages ago and I thought it'd be like one of those on steroids.

Being rustproof would also be convenient for those carrying for SD.

the only dodo i’ve seen in person had a snapped tip. it was a cool knife, but fine tips like that would be more trustworthy with a tougher steel.

We might as well take this all the way to the ultimate Yojimbo: Ti handles with integral compression lock like the original ATR and Salsa, plus a Vanax blade.

I think a H1 Lil' Matriarch SE Salt is the answer to mine, yours, and a lot of other peoples needs. A great rust-proof utility folder that would make an excellent SD option if it came to it.

Realistically I think we will see the PM2 Salt before the Yo2, which I am 100% a-okay with. Sal has said it has been on Eric's radar for a few years. Like most PM2's it will sell like hotcakes. As long as its a LC200N PE or H1 full SE I will definitely be in for a few.

This is some serious wishful thinking. Spyderco seems very hesitant to make any sprint or variant of the yojimbo 2 so I doubt very much that a salt version would ever be considered. We have been asking for an all black dlc version which would help with corrosion resistance, as well as a s110v version, neither of which has been announced or released.

I like the idea but I doubt it will ever come true. If I had my choice, I would just ask for an s30v dlc version of the yojimbo 2. That would make many people happy and sort of act as a salt knife.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390
Grail Paramilitary 2 M390 X 2! ACHIEVED!!

I agree with LC. A Yo2 salt would be cool. Better chance at a Matriarch/Lil Matriarch salt. Although I wonder if they could use the existing molds? If they have to make new ones, probably not.

Absolutely :D It would be such an easy (seemingly) run to do. Blow the dust off the old Lil' Matriarch logo disks, swap them out in the Delica 4 mold, mix up some SpyderHawk orange FRN, "laser" some H1, secure it all together with some Salt 2 hardware, and you've got a winner. That would be such a sweet reverse S blade for next summertimes adventures.

i’ve asked for a blacked out, waved matriarch 2 before and still think it would be amazing and a somewhat simple thing for spyderco to do considering everything is already in place to make it happen.

personally, i’d rather have the yojimbo in a salt version. i’d be happy with dlc s30v though.

it surprises me spyderco doesn’t want to make other versions. the sprints/exclusives all sell out so fast. at any rate, i’m looking forward to a dlc yojimbo (salt or not) and i’ll probably buy it and the trainer together.

The DLC S90V's are still to be had for decent prices and will be just as stainless:

You could pick one of these and a trainer up to get a jump start on the St. Nicks Yojimbo.

I just read there were 4 on the Spydiewiki, I guess one was the trainer. I just don't want things to get out of hand like they have with the PM3, it's like being force fed pancakes after you're full.

I don't have any real problem with variants I just would like to see other models get sprints and it's just seemed like they've been beating certain models to death. How many Para 3's am I supposed to care about these days haha

And no I'm not a CC member but where's the lil native variants or the Native salt or a Shaman sprint
