Like most of what we do at Spyderco, there is a great deal that goes on behind the curtain. Research, testing, study, strategic planning, etc. LC200N is custom made for us and we have a great deal being made in a variety of thicknesses. We tested with a few models, then a larger run with the Caribbean, and there is much more in-the-works. (kitchen knives, Swick 5 warnie, etc.)

Having missed out on the earlier versions, a new Swick is something I'd buy multiples of!
yeah that's the most exciting announcement from Sal in years, to me
"The plan is a basic version in VG-10, a ZDP model (British Racing Green) and a K390 version (which will be more expensive) (open to color selections?).
Construction will be like a large Endura. Nested liners, 4 way stamped clip, bi-directional texture, full flat grind, 4+" blade."

Was that from bladeforums? In another thread, an endura with lc200n was also mentioned. And sal said this:
"Hi Daybd,
That's the current plan, but with black handles and yellow handles.

Idk about an Endura in LC200N, but the very similar Pacific Salt is expected in LC200N, followed by the Pacific Salt 2 also in LC200N.

Yeah. I went back and re-read. I think I misunderstood.
So the pac salt will keep its current endura3 handle, but will get the lc200n. My bad.

Ditto!!
The swick has to be one of the most under appreciated fixed blades made this past century. It's ingenious. I've dreamt about a rust proof one for years, figured with how much swicks fly under the radar it wouldn't happen. That was one of those announcements that felt like it was for me personally haha, I was real excited to read that.

Ever since getting my Swick 4, this has been on my list. It's a fantastic knife that is super easy to carry.
I can't wait for the Swick 5, I will be buying a few of them.

The 3.5 was a Caly 3 designed for me. I prefer a longer blade. I'm currently experimenting with a possible Caly 3.5 in a light weight with nested liners like the Endura. Bi directional texture, with another maker. We usually don't like to change makers, but if the FRN version is popular, we'll need to be able to deliver higher volume than the current maker has capacity to make.
As mentioned, our Taiwan maker had more capacity for what could be a larger line. Now in one size, with two blade shapes and two edges. There is also a larger version planned.

I would assume a non-pinned Caly is possible if they change makers :)
