Is the PM2 slated to get a floating stop pin?

#1

Post by awa54 »

I just picked up my first two Para 3s (boy was I wrong about thinking this one wasn't for me!) and got to thinking about how similar the PM2 and P3 are, yet how the P3 has gotten CQI that still isn't in the PM2.

If the PM2 *isn't* going to get this change, does anyone know why not?

After the Military got it I thought the PM2 might follow, then the Para3 made it seem inevitable. The stop pin screw tension can be critical (or problematic) for good action... Maybe having the option of adjustment is better than not having it at all? At this point I'm not sure I care either way.

I would love for someone from SFO to reply to this topic. I'd love to know the reasons behind the choice as well

Same, I hope it stays the way it is. I noticed when a PM2 is getting lock stick I turn the stop pin 18o degrees and lock becomes butter smooth. We would loose being able to do this if we had a floating stop pin. I was hoping the P3 would go the other way. And I also wish the plunge grind would change like how it did on the PM2.

I really prefer the present screw/sleeve arrangement design.
The fine tuning tweeks are sometimes necessary.

I wonder if they haven’t made the change because it will affect the custom scale market?

I very much like 3 screws to hold the scales together. I forgive the floating pin (and 2 screws only) of the PM2 as it such a small knife.

True. In particular in connection with Titanium scales. Easy to manage though.

That would be an interesting disaster.

My guess is the Military was a test, the P3 being a new model inherited it first, and the P2 is such a golden goose that it's a "don't fix it if it ain't broken" situation. Or maybe it takes a lot longer to do this sort of thing than we understand.

I'm with you OP. I feel like a floating pin would get rid of action issues that the current screw and post can cause when over-tightened. If it were floating it would never be too tight so it wouldn't even be an issue. Just my 2 cents.
