I sense Belasarius’ detent is an anomaly, so the Caribbean remains on my radar. Thanks to those who reported on the action of their’s.

What is the inertia technique?
Rotating the knife to open the blade without touching it or the lock.

Where's Mr Janich? I'm sure he can describe it better.

Here he explains it:

Got it, thanks. It doesn't seem like the best way to open a knife.

I've found my Caribbean is very susceptible to pinching pressure. If I'm careful not to put any pressure on the sides it swings freely while holding the lock open. Even a little pressure and it won't swing freely.

Looks like a solid workhorse pattern

Torn between this and a super steel manix 2 or something

Ah, that’s probably what’s happening with mine. I always keep an extra firm grip on my knife when operating a lock.
BRING ON THE MANIX XL SPRINTS AND EXCLUSIVES! And 10v or K390ify the Golden lineup, please.

Top 5 folders I’ve owned: Serrated Caribbean Leaf, Shaman, Manix XL, ZDP-189/CF Caly 3.5, Native LW.
Top 5 steels I’ve owned: LC200N, K390, CPM S90V, M390, CPM REX45.
Top 3 steels I want more of: M390 class, A11 class (including K390), CPM REX45.

Mine has never been able to drop freely, I don't believe you could squeeze it hard enough to affect how it opens.
I find the action perfect.

It's down to the Caribbean or Shaman for my next Spyderco, that is after the Native Salt I've had on preorder forever lol.

Get the Caribbean! Wait for a sprint Shaman, the vanilla version is too expensive.

I also wish the Native Salt would drop already!

I caved in and bought a Caribbean too! I wasn't planning on buying one but the posts on the forum sparked my interest again and i found a used one on my local exchange for a good price that i couldn't pass on. Got one coming to me next week with a sheepsfoot blade and plain edge. I'm really interested in the LC200N steel and i didn't have a knife with this blade shape yet. I just hope it ain't too big for me, but if i don't like it it won't hurt my wallet much by buying used.

Received the serrated leaf version today, after getting the pivot screws adjusted and a bit of oil, it's starting to feel like my many PM2's. There has been a lot of thought and care in designing this knife, the handle is quite a feat with the alternating colored layers of G-10 with matching surface stripes, except the surface stripes are raised and grippy even though they are slick textured. Having everything waterproofed, this knife will become my EDC. I have read there will be a larger version forthcoming, my only recommendation would be to change thumb ramp gimping to the Golden Colorado size, the Taichung gimping gets lost, the entire top edge of the knife is smooth and the thumb feels like it might slide up and over.
This cost of this knife is very impressive when considering what all your getting. Spyderco get's a solid A rating for this splendid knife.

I've got a Caribbean Sheepfoot PE on the way. I'm really looking forward to it.
