As long as you have even a very thin layer of oil on the blade, you can keep it from cording. I used forehead grease in a pinch.
There are some developed patterns, from food stuff and other moist cuts. But the entire blade has darkened quite a bit, compare to the the way it came. I didn't dip it into anything. It's mainly from bringing it on runs and bike rides, IWB.
I usually take it apart once every couple months, to clean up the pivot. Had minor corrosion there at one point, but I have it under control now.

Between the carbon fiber PM2 and Para 3 or the knifeworks Manix 2, which one would you guys recommend? I'm really liking the Manix colors.
Re: 52100 Steel
This looks amazing actually. I never take my non-stainless knives running so I usually take my S30v PM2. I may try this with Maxamet to see what happens.anycal wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 8:37 pmAs long as you have even a very thin layer of oil on the blade, you can keep it from cording. I like the Manix 52100 colors. I have been trying to really thin out my collection and I think I am going to sell my 52100 CF Millie and get the Manix 52100. Then replace the Mille with the Rex45 Mille. I like the G10 better than the CF and I think the colors on the Manix look great. I'm a big fan of DLC as well.

For me, it's usually the M390 PM2. But since I did the blade swap, this one has the strongest detent of all my PM2s. I mean unusually strong. Still smooth as butter, flickable, and all that, but it takes more force to break it loose. Not that I had problems with my PM2s in the past, but this makes for a better option during impact activities.
Maxamet is definitely more difficult to patina than 52100.

I really like my DLC coated Manix 2. I need to touch it up, and interested on how it goes on the Sharpmaker.
