maybe i'm the last to know but a Spyderco/Kershaw colaboration!!!! an Onion Designed spydie!!!!!!!!!! and it's VERY attractive. Onion style recurve blade with 3 holes. Black G10 scales with silver carbon fiber inlay. whoa!

nothing else that i didn't already know about but it was cool to see some of the Byrd line in person. the hawkbill looks cool. it's like a PE Harpy only i won't be afraid to use it.

plus, the best prototype case i've seen for them. i'd have bought anything in the case if it made production.

??? What ??? It is just a collaboration. With them we wouldn't have the Chinook, Starmate, Chinese Folder, Street Bowie, etc, etc. :)

Do you think assisted openers are in Spyderco's philosophie?
They were very careful to stay out of trouble with their butterfly knife, I'm not sure they'd do in the assisted direction.
Would be awesome though!

SHOT Show

[quote="mystillwater"]The hawkbill looks cool]

I am positively dying with anticipation. :D I will have to have a couple of those.

I quite recently decided that I should slow down on my knife acquisitions, and this isn't helping one bit. I have three on the way, and there are several more I now consider "must-haves" for my collection.

I have been to the SHOT Show only once, many years ago; it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Dallas, TX, three floors, and every major manufacturer/importer that had anything to do with outdoor products was represented.

A full week of lusting after firearms, knives and other toys I could probably never afford. It was such a mixed blessing of both wonder and torture.

hmm.....a kershaw leek kind of benchmade skirmish.....nah, i'll pass.
all i like is the spyder-hole(s) and the tip-down clip, but that's about it. have doubts if the curving edge is useful as well other than to please the eye. not even to mention re-sharpening it.....

i think spyderco could do better in terms of originality, i don't like this one very much, it doesn't really say "this is a spyderco" either. just my 4 cts

I like the Spyken. Pretty neat. I guess it's now Neil Blackwood's turn to argue about the using of the three holes :rolleyes:
