I think I have found my EDC

#1

Post by Daveho »

Big change of job coming up so no more knives clipped to pockets for me-
To that end I’m down several knives and bought a spyderco hardly ever talked about here.

Spyderco Air.

Not a big blade by any stretch but I can do all my daily office stuff and it means I still get a chunk of M4.
The ergonomics of this tiny guy are fantastic- the edge is beautifully sharp (and along its whole length no less) it has a sharpening choil and basically it’s THE gentleman’s folder behind that one CRK that isnt a sebenza.

Sorry- was editing while you posted this.
It’s the Spyderco Air.
It’s one of the Gayle Bradley models-

Be advised those reading that it is SMALL!
Not ideal for “tactical” operations but if you don’t want to freak out the mums in your office well this guy is the business

That handle material is beautiful as heck and I love the blade shape. :spyder: If they made a larger one someday, maybe in white FRN, I'd be all over it.

Here’s a size comparison-
I love this little thing- the lack of a pocket clip is also a really welcome choice IMHO

Nice looking knife!
I like the flat edge.

Excellent choice. Bradley’s Air has always been at the top of the stratosphere for me in terms of small effective quality office type knives. You’re going to like it.

That's a beautiful knife.

I really like the knife, and the steel, but I've never had a good opportunity to EDC mine. I feel like I really need to make an effort to get it out and carry it more.

Great choice and it certainly lives up to its name, probably one of the lightest :spyder:'s made. Haven't carried mine in probably a year or more, need to change that.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

It really is a beautiful knife - did you pick it up on secondary market? As far as I know these are long sold out, but would be happy to be wrong about that...

I did indeed- BNIB at a great price :)
I very much love that so many knife folk are afraid on buying on eBay-
Means I can get stuff like this cheap

Great snag! If you ever get tired of carrying it, I might be able to find someone to take it off your hands... But seriously enjoy! Such a great feeling to settle on a trusty sidekick :-)

I was seriously considering hunting one of those down for my new office job but I ended up going with the new rhino. No regrets, I love the rhino but I do want an Air. I'm still honeymooning with the rhino but between that and my Lionsteel Roundhead I'm feeling classy at work.

Very nice choices-
I just sold off my Roundhead and Dom
Between this and my GEC navy knife #14 I’m pretty set in this area.
Also congratulations on the new job

Nice pick up! The Air's been on my radar for a few years now but I haven't bought one yet. One of these days I'll get one.

It sure is a classy piece. The Air and Memory were on deep discontinued discount shortly after I got into :spyder: and I have always since regretted not picking them up. I will have to keep an eye on the bay for these great deals you speak of :D

Really nice size for an EDC, and I love the handle color. Also, is that a TWSBI Eco? :)

Got mine when KSF was closing out their Spyderco line. Great piece! As OP noted, I really enjoy carrying a very lightweight piece of M4, and I am quite partial to the wharncliffe. Mine shares office pocket time with my DF2s and Urban.
