USA vs Taiwan M4
Has anyone noticed any difference between the Golden and Taiwan M4? The HT seems different. I know Bradley has expressed that his testing of the Taiwan M4 has been great and they peg it at 65 but the Golden boys seem to make it softer. Any info on this? Spyderco seems silent as far as I can tell about the rockwell of the US M4.

The Golden made M4 models are noticeably more corrosion resistant in my experience. There does appear to be some difference in heat treat. I cannot say that I have noticed a difference in edge retention but that is very possible too.
The corrosion resistance of my M4 Mule seems more like the Taichung knives than the Golden knives.

Funny this thread just popped up. As I own a Manix 2 in M4 and a Gayle Bradley 2 in M4. I was looking at them just last week and was thinking the same thing to myself, I wonder what the difference is. My Manix is DLC coated so I obviously can't compare corrosion resistance. I'm with Darby thus far in terms of edge retention. I haven't used either one extremely hard yet, but I don't really see much of a difference. I did quite a bit of landscape work with the GB last week to see how it compared with my PM2's. Held that razor sharp edge no problem.

I had a PM2 in M4 and had to sharpen it several times and it seemed soft. Sent it in and they said it was fine but would not tell me the rockwell numbers. I was wondering if Sal would answer that?

Both from Golden:
I have an M4 mule as well as a PM2 CF M4.
I haven't put the mule through the paces yet (outdoors) but no corrosion, or patina. Haven't needed to sharpen it either, since I reprofiled it. But feels nice and stout in hand. And man, or woman - is it sharp.
The PM2 I have regrind on is sharp as well, and I have not had any chipping at all - feels really tough to me. This has been getting alot of work without hesitation. Sharpens up like a dream. The only time I have seen rust, was when we had couple days rain, little on spine and it wiped right off.
