Hi everyone!
Hi everyone!
My name is Lorelei (my parents were hippies), but I go by Lori in person. I'm new to the world of nice knives. I carry one as part of my job, but it has been an afterthought for the most part.
My husband (Foolish Mortal on this board) is a knife junky. I like to read over his shoulder. I loved reading here so I created my own account thinking that I'd post sometimes. Not so much though.
I own a couple of Spyderco knives of my own, an older Police that was a gift when I got my first job out of college and a Sliverax that my husband bought me because I kept stealing his. I also own all of my husband's knives as well, so technically I own dozens of them! :D

Hi Lorelei,
Welcome to our forum.
Gail and I were Hippies so our understanding runs deep in that history.
It will be interesting to see what models you choose by yourself for you. We're always interested in the reasoning behind choices.

Welcome!
My parents were hippies also and I suppose I am in many ways too.
Keep enjoying your husbands knives. Thankfully since I got my wife a pink Native5LW she has zero interest in any of my Spydies. This will sound crazy to us knife nuts but she is a one knife kind of girl.

Re: Hi everyone!
Thanks for the welcome! :)
Lots of hippies here! How hip are you? Hip enough to name your girl Sugar Magnolia? I was a few contractions away from having that name according to my grandmother. She convinced my mom and dad that they may want to rethink that. :o Thank you grandmama! My mom and dad will neither confirm or deny. I had green hair before anyone else because that was my moms favorite color. 3rd grade. My nickname ended up being apple for the longest time.
As for what I like in knives I'm not sure yet. I always looked at them as a tool that I seldom used, perhaps occasionally cutting a seatbelt or something. I didn't even pick that knife out. My dad did. It's a serrated police model. I remember when he gave it to me and I thought Spyderco was a weird name for a police knife. It looked different from the old man knives I was used to seeing. Lately when my husband started collecting again I took an interest because we share a bank account! After seeing what he was buying I thought that they were as different to my work knife as my work knife was to old man knives. I guess that's when I started picking up his knives and admiring them. Not sure what I like more yet. I would carry the sliverax that my husband bought me to work if it were serrated. Not sure if it would be the best for the job but it's fun to fiddle with!
Maybe I don't know because there are so many! My husbands motto is Buy all the things! So I admire lots of different kinds.

I wanted to be a hippy but my mother wouldn't let me go to Woodstock....maybe because I was only 15 years old???? Nevertheless, the world could always use more Peace & Love. :D

They look comfortable. When I find something I like, I tend to buy the same brand of shoes and jeans over and over again, I hate when they get dico'd and I have to find a new favorite

Yes, and like living with a teenager, one goes to look for one, and it's not where it's supposed to be. Does anyone else find it strange to find a Pacific Salt in the shower? :D
