I like to go on hikes, fishing, etc. When I get the time to go out, I will bring my four dogs titanium biomass stick stove with me to boil water
I get that your dogs have really cool names, but, how did you train them to boil water?

I’d like to try some thinned-out H1 (FFG, PE, 7 DPS) in something lengthy, say an Endura, for a fillet option.

A super duper thin Delica slicer would be interesting. How about an LC200N Delica Salt with the Delica tip rather than the Salt 2 tip? Ground as thin as possible.

Or an LC200N Chap LW Salt ground even thinner than the XHP blade??

These would be awesome little portable paring/steak knives.

They should do REX45 but in a different color besides orange to indicate that it's a performance flash batch :D

Wouldn't this be better if Spyderco used a steel that they can crank up the HRC? That way there is some strength behind the thin edge (it won't be deforming as often). I'm not a knife maker, so maybe LC200N would work just fine. I do know that 60 HRC is about the limit of that steel. BD1N can go up to 63. Of course, the PM tool steels can go even higher. Perhaps somebody with some more knowledge could chime in here. I'm interested in this idea, but I'm not sure of which steels would be best suited for such a grind.

This is an addition to the discussion on the "plea" thread. Probably better off with the this one as it has more suggestions. I would suggest a non stainless steel to hold a really thin edge. We've tried zero grinds and ended up with edge deformation and breakout, so this has to be thought out more carefully. Maybe a Delica in Super Blue with an edge thickness of .010?

I like the idea of a Super Blue Delica.

I assume at that thinness we are talking an unclad blade like the Super Blue on the Caly Jr?

If unclad, what about TiCN coating the blade to reduce help reduce corrosion and also reduce friction on slicey cuts??

Would the coating actually reduce friction significantly at this thickness (thinness?)? Definitely would help with corrosion, though.

as long as it is not a backlock, and i actually get the chance to buy one. maybe a thinner para 3 lw in super blue would be another dream. well seems like all the talk is for a delica, so i am sorry but have to vote no.

This is probably asking for too much but how about a 52100 Nilakka?

I wouldn't say no to 52100 or more Super Blue, but as Larrin and others have noted, wouldn't AEB-L be an ideal stainless steel for this sort of performance grind?

Hope the upcoming Urban sprint comes ground pretty thin, but I'll adjust it myself if needed.

I'd be all for AEB-L or 52100 or even HAP40 or Super Blue, but ultimately for me it'll come down to what model it comes in. Like Nate said I can regrind or have it done so it's almost more important to me that I get the right steel in the right model. Having Spyderco produce it just makes it cheaper, and I'd like to see how the factory does it vs custom done.
