I'm pretty curious about this. I got my wife a Scallion from Kershaw with rainbow PVD finish. I thought it would just be flashy and it is I assure you, but it is way more durable than I imagined. She's **** on tools and she hasn't put a mark on it. It even took a tumble through the wash and dry with no effect except a bent tip even though it escaped a pocket. Depending on steel I might be all over this. I really hate I missed that glossy black from back in the day.

They have confirmed the handle color will be OD Green with black clip and hardware... No update on steel yet.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the only practical reasons to coat a blade would be to inhibit corrosion/staining on higher carbon steels or for the stealth/tactical advantage of reducing reflectivity or both. The Para 3 isn't a particularly tactical knife and I hope they don't coat a highly stainless steel like 204p or M390 for this knife just to be different.

As others have noted, I'd much rather have them use a less common steel for folders like 3V, 4V, or 10V that is also less stain resistant, thus justifying the coating. Or Maxamet or Rex121 that are even farther out on the "crazy super steels" bell curve.

TL;DR To use a coating on the already stainless blade of a non-tactical knife would be a lost opportunity.

The site now says August 2018 as what I assume is the release date. Not sure if they just added that or if it said August the whole time.

My guess is S30V to keep the cost down.

I was just thinking K390 would be great, but it's American made, so idk what to expect.

Not sure how I feel about the fde with the od green. I'd like fde with fde or od with od or either with black. Maybe I'll see it and won't be able to live without it. I think their steel choice could still tip it either way for me.

I'm not feeling that color blade, but still curious about what steel will be used. With the BHQ para 3/DLC and Rex 45 on pre-order, its doubtful I'll pull the trigger on this.
