Re: Knife & Watch
I see we have alot of Citizen wearers. Why haven't all watch manufacturers started using this technology? My next one will be a G-Shock solar.
Roman, you still needing a watch replacement? Let me know.

I really like my Citizen watch. I'm not sure I'll ever buy a non-solar watch again.

My Formula one is nice and all, but yeah, citizen makes one heck of a watch. They’re my #2 obsession, right behind Spyderco. I never leave the house without a watch and knife.

Re: Knife & Watch
I am not a fan of large chunky, heavy watches. For the longest time I was purchasing Skagen watches because of their slim profile and light weight. I hope they catch up to the solar movement (pun intended) soon.DirtMcGirt wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:13 pm

Re: Knife & Watch
I completely understand. They do have slimmer designs that are solar powered, just not the gps and radio functions.xceptnl wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 8:28 pmI am not a fan of large chunky, heavy watches. These(40-48mm)aren’t actually that big compared to some other radio/gps ones out there. For example, a g-shock solar atomic is 53mm. Which isn’t a big deal, I just don’t really dig the rubber.
Re: Knife & Watch
Bummer. I don't own a watch.
Re: Knife & Watch
I fell off the G-Shock bandwagon when I got my Hamilton. I don't think I can ever wear anything chunky or rubber again. NATO straps for the win!

I'm jealous of you guys. I have a nickel allergy, so no watch for me. Can't find a full Ti watch that isn't stupid expensive, either.
Oh well.
Oh well.

Re: Knife & Watch
I've had some pretty decent cheapo Casio watches that had plastic backs. Maybe you can look for a used Ti Citizen or something. My Hamilton is full titanium and it cost way more than I'd ever pay for a watch, it was a gift from my brother. Now that I own it and have wore it for almost 3 years practically non-stop I can understand why though.
Oh.....maybe you should look into NATO straps? They put a strip of nylon between the watch and your wrist. Or maybe one of those wider leather straps like this?

Re: Knife & Watch
They are long gone, but that Ti Fossil was and still is my favorite watch of all time. I had a jeweler replace the battery for me once, he punched the o-ring and when i went swimming.... dead. I wore it for 6 months without it functioning because I am a creature of habit. Found one used and that is the one I wear now.

Re: Knife & Watch
A brand to consider is Skagen. Just as xceptnl said, they offer slim, lightweight designs. And a full titanium construction can be had new for around $60-100. They just lack solar charging.
Re: Knife & Watch
Thanks meat man! But believe it or not, I end up carrying the other frankenspydie(Gray FRN/s90v) more often :o
@daveho Very good watch indeed!
My usual Sunday combo. Satallite wave and fluted titanium Native

Re: Knife & Watch
At work it is some flavor of G-Shock, and on the weekend its a solar Citizen diver. Either a Manix 2, or an Endura 4 are in my pocket.
Don't get bit by your Spyderco........
