Is this real or fake?

#1

Post by jtfsemperfi »

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and just purchased online what I believe is a Ladybug but am not experienced enough to tell if it's real or not. I would appreciate more experienced members sharing whether or not it is real. Hopefully you can see these pics in the link.

I can't name specific reasons with certainty, but I definitely think it's a fake.

OK, thanks for the reply. I recently lost a Dyad Jr. that I had for years and can't find a replacement at a decent price and saw this on ebay and took a chance. It is REALLY small, probably too small to replace the one I lost and I also miss having the plain edge and the serrated edge so I'll probably have to pony up the prices on ebay to get a replacement - just hate to pay money for a fake.
Would still be interested to hear other opinions.

If you bought it as new, then it certainly appears to be a fake. If you look at the very last serration closest to the tip, you'll notice it pokes out beyond the remaining blade edge. In a genuine Spyderco Ladybug, I believe this last serration should come to a completely flush finish with the remaining edge.

I also think the shown Ladybug is legit though the pictures could be from better quality for clarification.
