Steel questions...too many PM2s!
Steel questions...too many PM2s!
Which is never a bad thing I know. With the new Rex45 coming out I need some schooling. I read it’s like hap40 , but I have no experience with this. Can I get some comparisons to cruwear, S30v, or any other common pm2 version? Specifically corrosion resistance, toughness and ease of sharpening.

Corrosion resistance better than m4. Extremely easy to bring to very high sharpness. Wear resistance probably between s30v and m4. Those have been my impressions. There’s a lot to like with this steel.
Edit: I am speaking specifically about hap40 and assuming we will see similar performance from rex45.

Thanks! Could you compare corrosion resist to cruwear since it’s still available? I know cruwear is more resistant than m4. Was about to get cruwear till this news broke...Surfingringo wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 5:42 amCorrosion resistance better than m4. Extremely easy to bring to very high sharpness. Cruwear has less carbon and more chromium, despite the many other differences, that alone should make it noticeably more corrosion resistant than Rex 45.Lancerpt wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 6:02 amThanks!
